Seems like Toyota is getting inspired by one of its rival Volkswagen coz it has also come with a new model ‘Etios Cross’ like the VW’s Polo Cross. This Toyota Etios Cross has been introduced recently in Brazil and Argentina in November 2013 and now company has unveiled this car in the 12th Auto Expo 2014 in India. While the bookings of this sporty mini-SUV have been started now, it might launch within 1-2 months.
Price:
Being a sportier version of Etios Liva hatchback, it would be costlier than the Liva. While the Etios Liva’s higher variant costs around 7.12 lakhs, this Etios Cross is expected to get the price range around 8-9 lakhs.
Engine details:
This Etios Cross is available in three engine options which are 1.5 liter petrol, 1.2 liter petrol and 1.4 liter D-4D diesel. These powerful engines develop the max power of 88.8bhp, 78.9bhp and 67bhp respectively.
Space & Dimension:
The sporty SUV is 3895mm in length, 1735mm in width and 1555mm in height which also carries the wheelbase of 2460mm. It is designed with 185/60 R15 tubeless tyres and offers min. turning radius of 4.8m.
Interior & Exterior:
Company has done few modifications to distinguish this new Etios Cross from hatchback Liva including 15” 10 spoke diamond cut alloy wheels, bold front grille with grille guard & fog lamps, dynamic rear garnish with badging & roof spoiler, protectors made with black n silver plastics, refined fog lamp housings etc.
While at inside, it gets sporty seat fabric with stitch & badging, electric power steering with tilt function having audio controls on it, rear defogger with wiper, 2-DIN audio with Bluetooth, USB, Aux-in & remote and some more features.
Additionally, ABS with EBD, dual front SRS airbags, distinctive side cladding etc are some safety features which have been adorned in this.
Color Options:
Company offers this classy SUV in eight colors including Ultramarine Blue, Inferno Orange, Vermilion Red and Harmony Beige.

Redesigning an existing model into sportier crossover version- it is becoming a well applauded trend by the car makers now-a-days. While VW and Fiat have already made a move towards this, Toyota is in queue. This Crossover Etios will compete with VW Polo Cross and yet to be launched Fiat Avventura after hitting the floor; let’s see what change would come in competitive race with this new launch.
