And one more brand Chevy has removed curtain from its cool hatchback Beat’s so called facelift version at ongoing Auto Expo 2014. We are calling it so called coz this hatchback gets just few changes in its interior features otherwise mechanical powers, performance, fuel efficiency are remained same like the predecessor. Well, here are the overall details of this facelift Beat.

Table of Contents

Price:

By having three variants, this facelift Beat is priced between 4.06 lakhs and 6.10 lakhs.

Engine details:

As mentioned above, it has three variants namely PS, LS and LT which have three fuel options; petrol, diesel and LPG. The diesel variant is a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder in-line TCIC developing the max power and peak torque of 57.7bhp and 150Nm respectively.

All the engines of facelift are mated with 5-speed manual transmission gearbox, automatic could also be equipped in this updated model though. As per its fuel economy is concerned, it offered ARAI certified mileage of:

25.4 km/l (Beat diesel)

18.6 km/l (Beat petrol)

13.3 km/l (Beat LPG)

Interior & Exterior:

This new small facelift hatchback has a cute and attractive glimpse by having stunning new headlamps, stylish fog lamps with new chrome lined contrasting black surround, jewel affect tail lamps etc. It also carries stylized steel wheels, rear spoiler in black color (in variant PS and LS) while in body color (in variant LT), recessed door handles, body colored bumpers, both side body colored ORVM, spoiler mounted LED high mount stop lamp, chrome front grille, body colored door handles and satin silver roof rails etc.

Contrary, at inside the cabin, it is designed with features like digital tachometer, digital trip-meter, door ajar warning, low fuel warning, semi fabric seat + design insert seat cover, day/night rear view mirror, integrated audio system with CD, MP3 player, USB, Aux-in, 4 speakers, power steering with audio controls, AC, front/rear power windows, central locking, rear wash & wipe and rear defogger etc.

Performance & Safety:

By offering impressive mileage, Beat provides a decent ride even in city roads. But still, it somehow lacks in safety features which can be seen as its drawback. It just has height adjust front armrest, driver seat belt reminder and tubeless tyres as standard features on the name of safety. If customer wants Antilock Braking System and dual airbags, then they have to spend more money coz Beat’s LT (optional) variant has only these safety features. The thing which is not cool is company didn’t bring these even with this so called facelift model.

Color options:

The new facelift Beat comes in same eight different exterior colors including Cocktail Green, Super Red, Linen Beige and Misty Lake etc.

Main Rivals in India:

Hyundai i10 and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R etc

Verdict:

Pros: – Affordable price

– Impressive mileage

– Stylish glimpse

Cons: – Lack of safety features in base variants

– Automatic gearbox missing
