General Motors has finally taken the wraps of new Spark which is nothing but the upcoming India bound Beat hatchback. According to Chevrolet new Spark aka beat will offer better features, greater efficiency, new safety features and will provide greater driving experience. While it is not sure that the unveiled model would go on sale in Indian market. The car will be showcased at 2016 Delhi auto expo and might be launched soon after.
The new Spark (beat in India) now looks slightly shorter in height by 40mm but a bit longer than before. The Design of the hatchback carries the DNA of GM like with dual front grille similar to new Cruze, wraparound stretched headlamps with slight blackened effect on top that can be easily mistaken for Hyundai product.
The new Beat bears resembles of Karl with creases around the door panels, revised ORVMs, chrome door handles for front only while the rear door handles still sits on C-pillar. The rear end boasts new bumper with glossy reflectors, boomerang shaped tail lights, roof spoiler and chrome line near the name plate.
New Beat shares its platform with new Opera Karl and Vauxhall Viva while India based beat will be benefited by a new platform known as ‘Amber’.
The interiors of beat will get a 7-inch color touch screen with Chevrolet My-link infotainment system, trapezoidal A/C vents, accessory packages with personalization option and the cabin is complimented by high quality materials and fabrics.
According to Chevy beat will be based on stronger body structure and equipped with various safety features such as:-
- Lane departure warning
- Side blind spot alert
- Forward collision alert
- Roll over protection system
- Ten airbags
Powering the new beat/spark is 1.4L ecotec that produces 98bhp power while the earlier model produced 77bhp power and it come paired to a 5 speed manual or optional CVT gearbox.
The new spark/beat is expected to go on sale in US in the last quarter of 2015 and Chevrolet will offer new beat/spark in over 40 markets worldwide. Indian launch is slated for the next year.
