BMW finally launched their Series Gran Turismo at the Auto Expo 2018. It is for the first time that the 6 Series GT is available in India. It was unveiled by the company’s brand ambassador, Sachin Tendulkar. This variant is available in a locally-produced petrol variant and can be booked at BMW dealerships from today onwards. The diesel version of the same would be launched later this year.
Engine Details
The engine details of the Gran Turismo have a two-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 258 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,550 – 4,400 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds as it gets an 8-speed Steptronic Sports Automatic Transmission.
Exterior and Interior
The 6 Series GT gets a long bonnet which gives it a distinguishing and powerful appearance. The luxury car has frameless windows, a lower roofline with large automatic tailgate giving it elegance with a sporty look. The design of the new Series Gran Turismo is what makes it more attractive. The car’s rear spoiler provides visual lightness and reduces lift at touring speeds.
For the interiors, you get a lounge like atmosphere is this luxury car. An optimized noise insulation, two-part panorama glass roof, electrically operated adjustable rear seats with comfortable cushions for headrests make this car opulent. The rear side window also has electrically operated sun blinds. The 6 series GT also has ambient lighting with six selectable light designs to get your mood up.
It gets a multifunctional instrument display, BMW iDrive and touch controller, BMW Navigation Professional, Apple Car Play, Park Distance Control, Bluetooth and USB facility. The Gran Turismo also has a rear-seat Entertainment system. The car gets two 10.2 inch colour screens behind the front-seat backrests, a BluRay player, HDMI connection for mobiles and various connections for MP3 players and game consoles.
Space
The luggage compartment gets a capacity of up to 1,800 litres that is because it has a 40/20/40 split. The car offers 610 litres of space even when the rear seats are fully occupied.
Safety
The safety section of the car is top notch as it carries six airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control having Dynamic Traction Control as well, Cornering Brake Control, Hill Descent Control, Side-impact Protection, Run-flat tyres with reinforced sidewalls, electronic vehicle immobilizer and a crash sensor also.
The BMW 6 Series GT carries a price tag of 58.90 Lakh INR.
