Ford’s love for adding and deleting features continues, after revisiting features of Figo hatch and Aspire the American carmaker has updated EcoSport. We had earlier reported that Ford will launch a mid cycle facelift version soon with revised features. Ford EcoSport has taken the sub 4m segment by storm with its riding ability, youthful stance and decent features which helped it to become bestseller in no time. However ever since Vitara Brezza’s launch EcoSport sale declined drastically and now placed well below the Maruti’s compact SUV.
Ford reacted instantly by slashing its prices by up to Rs. 1.12 lakhs but it wasn’t enough so the carmaker decided to add and subtract features from the current model. According to dealer level sources, three new additions will be made to current EcoSport which includes an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, DVD playback and reverse parking camera, blackened out roof top and new 17 inch alloy wheels with 205/50 Apollo tyres. The new system will also support Android Auto and Apple car play for pairing Smartphones.
As per several dealer, only Titanium + diesel and Titanium+ 1.0l EcoBoost will be available with touchscreen system at a sticker price of Rs. 10.19 lakhs and Rs. 9.89 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. The touchscreen will cost an additional of Rs. 20,000 over the current pricing of both variants.
Besides these additions, the facelifted model loses out of certain features. The trend trim now excludes rear wiper and defogger, driver seat height adjustment, recline and split folding rear seat and passenger seat storage box. The Titanium and Titanium plus variants loses out on non LED DRLs, cooled glove box, front armrest, lumbar support, leather wrapped gear knob and handbrake and chrome sill plates. Moreover, Ford has added a new Titanium (O) variant to Figo and Aspire which comes with six airbags including side and curtain airbags.
