Fiat has revealed the Aegea project at the ongoing Istanbul Motor show in Turkey; it is expected to go on sale in Turkey by November 2015. Though the Fiat has not confirmed that if this sedan would be Linea’s successor or not but it is rumored to be a replacement for Linea. The Fiat Aegea will be manufactured in company’s Tofas plant in Bursa, Turkey and it has been designed by the team of 2000 members for three years.
After Turkey’s launch, the Aegea will be launched in 40 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. For Now, Fiat has not confirmed about its India launch but it is most likely to replace Linea in the country by next year. The Aegea is purely a sedan it’s a hatch with a boot, Aegea has been designed as a saloon/sedan from ground up and Aegea based hatchback will be revealed at the end of 2015.
According to the images, the Aegea looks like a blend of BMW 3 series and Aston Martin. The front is characterized by the sculpted bonnet with bold creases that extend to rear, swept back headlamps that meet into large chrome grille with Fiat Logo at the centre. The rear side sports a C shaped curvy tail lights goes well with the flamboyant look of Aegea.
The compact design Fiat Aegea has been designed to lodge five passengers and measures 4.5m in length, 1.78m wide and 1.48m in height with the wheelbase of 2.64m and luggage capacity of 510 liters. In India compact sedan are those who measure under 4 metres but not in other countries like Middle East, Africa etc.
Features on the Fiat Aegea include a black theme for the cabin with silver inserts on the central console, U-connect infotainment system with 5 inch touch color screen, bluetooth compatibility, message reader and voice recognition, Tom-Tom Satellite navigation, reverse parking camera, steering mounted controls etc.
Fiat Aegea would be launched with two petrol and two multi-jet diesel engines, with the power figures between 98bhp and 120bhp. The compact sedan will be matched to manual as well as automatic gearboxes and will return fuel efficiency of around 25 KMPL.
Fiat will launch it in November 2015 in Turkey followed by other countries and will get a new name when it goes on sale. There is no clarity about its India launch but Aegea may come to the country by mid 2016 or early 2017 and will replace aged Linea. The Aegea looks one of the best looking sedans in the segment and it might the product that can do wonders for Fiat in India.
