Mitsubishi, the Japanese carmaker has already revealed that it will be focusing on SUV segment in India in 2015 and other segments in upcoming years. Mitsubishi has unveiled the all new Outlander at the 2015 New York auto show which gets over 100 design and engineering improvements according to the manufacture. The SUV gets mechanical, cosmetic updates along with new features.
The new Mitsubishi Outlander shares same design elements with PHEV concept-S and features chunky dual slat front chrome grille, chrome ornament from sides of headlamps and move their way down to front bumper, Slim projector headlamps with LED DRLs, unique shaped wide air dams and round fog lamps.
Sides of the car get new 18 inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, silver side skirting and at the back new Outlander sport a Multi layered LED tail lights, silver skid plate, blacked out bumper, reflectors with reverse lamps, third brake light on integrated roof spoiler.
The interiors of SUV features new steering wheel, new seats with improved upholstery, new infotainment system, improved upholstery for seats, rear foldable seats, auto dimming rear view mirror with Homelink, improved quality of materials with excellent fit and finish.
New Mitsubishi Outlander gets advanced safety features which include adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure warning (LDW), forward collision mitigation (FCM) etc. Mitsubishi has made some changes in the mechanics of new Outlander like they improved the chassis, redesigned the suspension setup and to improve NVH levels Mitsubishi has added sound deadening material, thicker rear door glass and noise isolating windscreen.
In terms of power new Mitsubishi Outlander gets two petrol engines- a 2.4L four cylinder unit developing 166bhp power and 219Nm peak torque paired to a CVT gearbox. The top spec variant has a 3.0L which churns out 224bhp power and 291Nm of peak torque coupled to a six speed automatic gearbox.
