It has been a while or we can say more than a year when Ford launched the most anticipated SUV in the Indian market and it received the response which I guess like no other car. Ford EcoSport is a huge success with the waiting period of it went up to a year so one can imagine how popular EcoSport was and still is. Everything about this car is perfect but some of them didn’t the like the spare wheel at rear especially at the global arena.
After almost two years the US auto giant has decided to listen to the plea of public and decided to drop that mounted spare wheel in facelift version of EcoSport which is scheduled to be launched in 2015. Ford EcoSport is spied testing for the first time without rear spare wheel to give it a more sort of conventional urban SUV look; we can expect some change in the front side of facelift version while overall design will remain same.
The removal of Spare wheel would get mix response from the buyers because many of them liked the Spare mounted wheel as it compliment the looks of EcoSport and the removal will cause the reduction in length of EcoSport and makes parking a lot easier now. The boot space of Ford Eco Sport was merely 346 liters however this spare wheel will be squeezed into this small boot space and this will make boot space tinier.
Overall look will remain same apart from that spare wheel and interior also will remain same except minor tweaks, updated upholstery and new infotainment system etc. Mechanically also it will remain same with 1.5 TDci diesel engine, 1.0 Ecoboost Petrol engine and 1.5L TiVCT petrol.
Ford EcoSport might be launch at the end of 2015 or early 2016 because car is not too old to be facelifted and there are no real threatening rivals present in the market right now. After the launch of Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai ix25 and Maruti XA Alpha, Ford might launch facelifted Eco Sport with some minor tweaks and additions.
