Mercedes Benz India has launched the baby monster GLA 45 AMG 4matic on 27th October 2014 at the grand event held at Mumbai. With this launch it takes AMG tally to eight since January 2013 for India. GLA AMG 45 SUV is compact version of recently launched CLA 45 AMG based on Mercedes MFA platform. This SUV is considered as most powerful in the segment with power house performance. Mercedes Benz India has launched GLA 45 AMG 4Matic at the initial price of Rs. 69.90 lakh Ex Showroom Delhi. Price is certainly on the higher side in the segment.
Engine Details:
GLA 45 AMG SUV is powered by 2.0L four cylinder turbo charged direct injection petrol engine which is responsible to produce 355BHP power@6000rpm and 450Nm torque@2250-5000rpm based on 4MATIC all wheel drive system.GLA 45 AMG SUV is coupled with 7 speed sports transmission and three driving modes which adds fun element to it.
This powerful SUV sprints 0-100 km in just 4.8 seconds with the top speed of 250km/hr and fuel efficiency of 13.8KPL.
Space & Dimensions:
Mercedes GLA 45 AMG compact SUV offers seating capacity for 5 people with specifications of 4445mm length, 2022mm wide and 1494mm height. Wheelbase of GLA 4 MATIC is 2699mm and boot capacity is 421 liters.
Exterior and Interiors:
GLA 45 AMG 4matic at first glance looks like a sports car with sportier front bumper carrying large air intakes, Mercedes logo with twin radiator grille with red underline and AMG badging. Front side is also glamorized with Bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Side profile is same as CLA 45 AMG but the noticeable change at side is 19 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels in titanium avatar. Rear profile AMG 4matic gets rear diffuser with two tail pipes, elegant looking taillights and boot carrying Mercedes logo at the centre and AMG badging.
From the inside Mercedes has maintained the legacy with features like sporty premium leather seats with red contract stitching, three spoke leather wrapped multi function steering wheel with red needle stitch. Central console is equipped by 7 inch standing LCD screen with AMG main menu and Racetimer. Cabin looks graceful two tone aluminum black finish with AMG stripe. Screen look dated and it didn’t go with the class of Mercedes.
Rear side gets A/c vents; seating capacity of at rear is for three persons but the third person will not as comfortable due to limited space available. Apart from that the 4matic version consist Harman Kardon music system and illuminated door panels adds more luxurious touch to this eye soothing SUV.
Colors:
Mercedes 45 AMG SUV is available in four chic colors which are Jupiter red, Cirrus white, Cosmos Black and Mountain Grey.
Safety:
GLA 45 AMG SUV hosts long list of safety features to ensure maximum protection for passengers with features like three stage Electronic stability program (ESP ON, Sport handling mode and ESP off), attention assist system, Pre-safe system, reversible belt tensioners, automatic closing of windows and panoramic sunroof during crash, seven airbags, hill assist and hold function etc.
Verdict:
Price of this compact is high but with these specifications and no direct competitor available right now, this compact SUV has bright future ahead of it. This powerful SUV has everything to do wonders for Mercedes in the segment but price might be the game spoiler in the success story of GLA 45 AMG 4matic SUV.
