Renault Duster, a name which has managed its position as one of the top level competitor in the same segment SUVs is now being renovated again by the company. Undoubtedly, the SUV is making a blast in India since its launch and giving a tough fight to its other models of similar segments like Mahindra XUV500, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano etc. With the many modifications in its exterior n interior as well, this Duster facelift is also getting a four-wheel-drive (4×4) system.
Price:
The price range might be increased after this update. The new price tags could vary between 8 lakhs to 12.28 lakhs, which still making it one of the affordable same segment model.
Engine details:
The same engines which are powered in ongoing SUV would be equipped in this new model too. These are 1461cc, 1.5 liter DCi K9K HP diesel which develops max power of 84bhp and 110bhp (as per the variants) while the other fuel unit is a 1598cc, 1.6 liter K4M petrol engine producing 102bhp as max output.
The engines of petrol and diesel (84bhp) are mated with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox while the diesel fuel having 110bhp of max power is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Also, to provide this amazing SUV a better handling and safety on road, company is offering a four-wheel-drive (4×4) system in this facelift model which means it will have now total four wheels that are driven and also all four wheels can receive torque from engine if needed. This 4wd mode is responsible to perform better friction at the time of driving in challenging environment like snow, mud etc.
Currently, the existed Duster has only two-wheel-drive (4×2) system.
Though, the step of making this SUV 4×4 would be resulted in its less fuel efficiency. The reason is its receiving torque from engine by all four wheels now instead of two. So it wouldn’t be surprised if given mileage of this facelift Duster will be reduced than the predecessor.
Space & Dimension:
Dimension will be same like the ongoing model i.e. 4315mm x 1822mm x 1695mm along with wheelbase of 2673mm and ground clearance of 205mm. It’s a five seater SUV which could reduce its boot space by 67 liters (from 475 liters to 408 liters), though it’s not confirmed yet.

Some renovations are being made to its interior and exterior as well. The new Duster gets modified headlamps, chrome trim, new roof rails, new scuff plate, refined tail lamps and probably some more. The revealed image of Duster 2014 is also showing it in a new Comete Grey color.
Car Zoom’s take:
Though, this royal SUV has given a tough fight to its rivals in Indian car market since the launch but still the increased competition in the presence of other same segment models like EcoSport, XUV500 etc provoked the company to take this step for making this car to be on top in its competitive list.
