When it comes to premium D segment, Ford has an enviable line up with some sizzling hot pair of wheels. Now, this American car company will create a boom in Indian market with its all new Ford Mondeo. Yes, the Mondeo is back again. It was launched by the company way back in 2002, but being too ahead of times, it could not carve its niche then. The company is contemplating its re-launch in India with much sophisticated European design and amazing engineering. It’s called Fusion in US where it received humongous success and now its India’s turn to welcome its sleek but aggressive killer looks to give fierce competition to other Premium D segment cars like Hyundai Accord and Toyota Camry.
Pricing:
We are keeping our bets on a price band of 13-18 lakhs in Delhi. However, these are just tentative bets that need not remain the same.
Brand value:
Ford has a fairly good reputation to maintain in India with many predecessors of Mondeo having completed their successful run. This brand value is enriched with high end technology and premium looks. Probably to reinvent this value as such, Ford is in the process to launch Mondeo in India.
Engine:
To assure you pleasurable driving, Ford has fitted this car with 2.0 litre turbocharged Ecoboost 4 cylinder engine. Boasting of 6-speed automatic transmission, this engine emits 238 BHP @ 6000rpm with maximum torque of 190Nm @ 2500rpm. With an overall fuel efficiency of 10 kmpl, it is however, not that economical on your pocket.
Space:
Ford Mondeo is a bigger and better car to drive with sufficient space engulfed in a sturdy and huge frame. It has the dimensions of 4810x1820x1450 mm with lot of boot space. With seating capacity of 5 adults, it ensures a comfortable ride under the sun for your entire family.
Interiors:
The awe-inspiring interiors of this sedan are festooned with leather upholstery with multiple storage options. The most eye catching feature is the 8-inch touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC and MyFord Touch technology set in a well illuminated and elegant instrument cluster. They are stylish and sporty. Largely inspired from Aston martin, a cavernous front grille in particular, aggravates its appeal with sleek headlamps, stylish OVRM’s with turn indicators, 10-spokes 16” alloy wheels, and beautiful air intake grille right below the number plate. The rear side is also quite sporty to add a zing to its overall looks. With chrome finished exhaust pipe, red LED lights, long rear glass, rear wiper, and stunning tail lamps, it exudes loads of dynamism in its style. A rich roofline also looks amazing in this entire package.
Road handling:
In terms of road performance, Ford Mondeo is a driver’s car, undoubtedly! It will supposedly possess superior ground clearance considering a wheel base of 2760mm. With front ventilated and rear disc brakes; it also has ABS with EBD, EPS with traction control, an adaptive cruise control, Vehicle Identification number, and parking sensors, it assures you complete safety along with fun of driving this feature loaded machine.
Verdict:
The Indian version of European class and American engineering- this is how Ford Mondeo may be defined here. Having aggressive looks, capacious cabin, refined engines, excellent ride quality, it will certainly prove its worth as a performance oriented car with unbeatable features. However, the expectations are quite high, a good deal of anticipation is sure to follow such fun machine. With its launch due somewhere around September-October, we are hoping it to prove us right.
