Nissan is back with its legendary Datsun brand with the ‘GO’ car. I am quite sure you would like the ‘I am Back’ attitude of this car after a huge gap of 27 yrs since it was discontinued from 1986. Great Will Power!! And now that it is back it is all set to mark its presence in Indian automobile industry in January 2014. Until then Nissan has enough time to experiment on its looks and performance. The car is essentially a hatchback and the price of the car is expected to start at an affordable rate of Rs. 2.5 lacs and can go upto Rs. 5 lacs. Sources reveal that a sedan would also follow after this hatchback car’s launch. As can be analyzed from the context of the situation there are huge expectations from this car. Let’s have a look what our experts are estimating and predicting about this car’s specifications and looks. Though the fate of the car lies only in the Customers, our experts can hint you, that whether you will want to buy this car or not next yr.
Datsun GO derives its base from the Nissan V platform as in Micra, but rest is entirely different from Micra. It has a small chrome bounded hexagonal honeycomb mesh front grill with the brand logo ‘Datsun’ in blue and chrome right at the centre. There’s a radiator grill at the bottom with 2 small grills on either sides which have taken space of missing fog lamps. The headlamps are large with absent LED day time running lights. The car has rather simple looks without much flashy exteriors as can be predicted from the price. Even the ORVMs are only black plastic without a steel covering or even paint and forget about the turn indicators on them. Instead there are small turn indicator lamps below the ORVMs on either side. Well this is being said from the pic revealed by Nissan. The wheel seems to be alloy made almost 13 inch with flower shaped 12 spokes on it. The car has smooth character lines on the sides and the door handles are uplift type like in a simple car like Maruti 800. The rear lamps are broad and more of a rhombus shape.
Under the Hood :The car will be driven by the 5- speed manual gearbox with the 3 cyl 1.2l petrol engine offering mileage figures better than Micra, say about 19 kmpl. Max power delivered will be around 76 PS and max Torque will be around 104 Nm.
Let’s jump on the interiors now. The upholstery and the dashboard is Beige in colour giving a pleasant look to eyes. There’s an open lid glovebox and gear levers placed at the base of central console like in Hyundai i10. There is only a single driver airbag. Then there are circular A/C vents and smooth power steering on board. It is expected that the car will show up with power windows and a descent entertainment box with USB, Aux-in and maybe SD card too.
Hmm I will stop the expectation and predictions part here, let’s wait until this car sees the light of the day and we’ll get back with the expert’s test ride speech on it. Till then drive safely and avoid poking high beam light into others eyes!!:p
