Nissan India has announced a launch of massive price slashes for Sunny sedan across the variants. The sedan now starts almost a lakh cheaper; the base variant is now priced at Rs. 6.99 lakh while top end diesel trim is available for Rs. 8.99 lakh which is almost Rs. 2 lakh cheaper than before. Additionally, the XL CVT variant has been discontinued. Thanks to price revision, Nissan CVT is now the most affordable sedan in the country.

Nissan wants to pass on to customers the benefits of lower cost owing to better localization. Earlier this year Nissan has launched 2017 Sunny sedan in India with several upgrades and aggressive pricing. Despite, Sunny is struggling for good numbers but this price cut might up the ante for dud selling sedan.

In addition, Nissan has removed the top spec XV premium variant which was available on the diesel variant. There is no change in the mechanical department, it continues to power from a 1.5l diesel engine that makes 85bhp power along with 1.5l HR15 petrol engine with 98bhp power. Both engines come mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while petrol gets an optional CVT.

Announcing the price cut Mr. Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India said, “Nissan always strives to offer innovative products to our customers with a compelling and competitive value proposition. The Nissan Sunny is our flagship sedan which we proudly “Make in India” at our Oragadam Plant in Chennai. Local production of this car enables significantly lower costs and this helps serve our customers faster with global levels of quality products. We pass on these benefits to our customers with very competitive prices for the Nissan Sunny, our popular premium sedan.”
