It’s no secret that Chevrolet needs a new mass catchy car which will increase the foot wells into Chevrolet’s showrooms. Chevrolet is currently working on the new version of Beat hatchback in India which is slated for early next year. The Beat hatchback is extremely popular in India and known for its enthusiast ride quality. It became quite obvious that the American carmaker will bring new avatar of Beat in the country when it displayed Beat Activ at 2016 Auto Expo.
The camouflaged test mule of new Beat was snapped on test multiple times. Now, the uncamouflaged model was spied on Mumbai Pune expressway hinting at a launch in early next year. The new seems to be based on Beat Activ concept that was showcased earlier at 2016 Auto Expo.
On design front, it borrows cues from new Chevrolet Spark but overall aesthetic similar to current model. The front sports revamped headlamps flanked by revised bumpers, leaner grille and roundish fog lamps while side profile is similar to the current model. The rear side flaunts new redesigned tail lamps, revised tailgate and modified rear bumpers.
Interiors have undergone major revamp and will get new instrument cluster and new Chevrolet Mylink2 touchscreen infotainment system with Apple car play, Android auto and other additional features. Once launched, new Beat will take on the likes of Maruti Celerio, Tata Tiago and Hyundai Grand i10.
The 2017 Beat will continue to be powered with the same range of engines that houses the current model. The range includes a 1.2 litre petrol unit that makes 77bhp power and 107Nm of torque and a 1.0 litre diesel engine that develops 57bhp power and 143Nm of torque. Both the engines are clubbed with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
