The 2015 Audi TT coupe has been launched in India at the stocker price of Rs. 60.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in a single 45TFSI petrol variant. The first GEN Audi TT coupe came in 1998 and this is the Third GEN model which broke cover at 2014 Geneva Motor show and finally made it to Indian Shores almost after a year. The new model is around 5 lakh costlier than the phased out model.
The new Car is based Volkswagen’s MQB (Modular transverse Matrix) platform and Audi Space frame technology; which has helped it to shed off 50 kg as compared to its predecessor model. The new Model has 37mm of longer wheelbase than its predecessor and it has become shorter by 20mm.
The overall coupe Silhouette remains but now it looks more aggressive and resembles bigger Audi R8. In new Audi TT you will find a lot of elements borrowed from Audi R8 and Audi’s prologue concept. 2015 TT features Audi’s Matrix LED headlights which are borrowed from R8 while the front is dominated by large air ducts, redesigned bumpers, chrome trapezoidal grille that gives aggressive look to new Audi TT coupe.
New Audi TT wear sporty Side profile with sloping roofline, side skirts, flared wheel arches and stylish 20 spoke alloy wheels. Rear side has tweaked bumper, retraceable spoiler, dual exhausts and LED tail lamps with thin LED strip connecting both of them.
Though Exterior might be similar to Audi R8 but the cabin is all new featuring a new multi function flat steering wheel with paddle shifters, interior mirror with anti-glare function, jet turbine like A/C vents, Bang and Olufsen music system with 12 speakers, 2 woofers, new 12.3 inch TFT behind the steering wheel with Audi’s latest MMI touch and seats get Milano leather upholstery.
In terms of safety it comes with Park assist, secondary collision brake assist which prevents vehicle uncontrolled rolling away in case of sudden accident, Audi hold assist, cruise control with speed limiter, parking system plus, air bags for front passengers along with side, front and head airbags, ABS wit EBD, electronic stability program and traction control system. New Audi TT scored 4 stars in NCAP crash tests.
2015 Audi TT is available in a single variant powered by 2.0L turbocharged petrol mill that is rated to produce 227bhp power along with 370Nm of peak torque paired to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The new TT is available with Audi Quattro all-wheel drive system and can attain 0-100km in just 5.3 seconds while ticking the electronically limited speed of 250km/hr.
Audi will continue to bring TT via CBU route and it will go against the likes of BMW Z4, Porsche Boxster and Mercedes-Benz SLK.
