Volkswagen India is Planning to launch Polo Based sub 4 metre Sedan

Volkswagen, the German car manufacture is looking to grab greater market share in India as they are now targeting the sedan and compact SUV segments in the near future. We are getting exciting news about Volkswagen launching a sedan by the end of next year or early 2016 which will be on polo based platform. Volkswagen is a slow mover in terms of introducing new products they recently launched new Polo and new Vento which is a new wine in old packing in particular the new Vento.

But Volkswagen has confirmed that they are working on two new segments compact SUV and sedan which is likely to hit the showrooms in next two years. The engine might remain same like new Polo but the design will be according to the engineer’s brain. Polo sedan will be positioned over Vento hence will cost more than Vento.

During Paris Motor Show Volkswagen board member Dr. Heinz Jakob Neusser said, “The sub 4 meter segment is a big segment and important for our dealer base. We are developing Polo as a sub 4 meter concept, the design is ready and it looks pretty good.” he further added that “The compact SUV segment is the one that will rise for sure in the future and we are looking at it.”

VW’s 1.2L TSI engine and 1.5L engines are most likely to be part of this new car and will give direct completion to segment dominator Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Tata Zest. All these are establish players, beating them or even coming close to them will take some healthy innovation we’ll wait and see how the new Volkswagen sedan turned out to be.

The sub 4 meter segment is the fastest growing segment, which witnessed 25-30% growth in declining automobile market. Around 30,000 units are sold during a month with Maruti grabbing hug amount of share close to 50%.

After Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda amaze is performing amazingly well in this segment with 25-30% share followed by Hyundai Xcent which is a new entrant in the market. By seeing these growing stats it’s obvious from Volkswagen side to enter into such developing market so they have a great chance to increase their market share.

Volkswagen is also planning a SUV which will be launched in next two years with some classy features and attractive design technology.
