Tata launches Zest Sportz edition to commemorate 50,000 units sales milestone

To celebrate the 50,000 units’ sales milestone and second anniversary in the market, Tata motors have launched the limited edition of its compact sedan Zest christened as Zest Sportz in India. The car is bundled with an array of offers like free insurance worth Rs. 33,000, exchange bonus of Rs. 30,000, Special EMI scheme of Rs. 3999 a month and other miscellaneous benefits up to Rs. 68,000.

The Zest was the first product from Tata motors to be based on Gen NEXT design technology but it didn’t turn around to be a star performer despite getting the decent reviews. Nevertheless, its sale volumes have always been remained between the 1500-2200 units a month mark but now the numbers have been deteriorating over the past few months.

The Sportz edition is offered in eye-catching paint job with front getting red paint on the lower lip, bumper protectors flanked by standard features like projector headlamps with LED DRLs, chrome wrapped front radiator grille and bulgy bonnet. Side profile wears tri color body decals (Red, black and grey), red painted side sills and ORVMs, new alloy wheels (only offered in the top variants). The rear only gets rain visors and red paint bumper to add some sporty element to the compact sedan.

Most of the changes have been made at the exterior while cabin only gets new seat upholstery along with other available features like 8-speaker Harmon audio system, touch screen infotainment system with Smartphone enabled navigation, height adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, electronically adjustable ORVMs, dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and much more.

On the mechanical front, things remains unchanged it takes power from a 1.2l Revotron petrol engine developing 88bhp power@5000rpm and 140Nm of torque@1500-4000rpm, linked with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The 1.3l Quadrajet diesel engine available in two states of tunes-74bhp and 190Nm, mated with 5-speed manual gearbox and 88bhp and 200Nm of torque. The 90PS engine can be had in either 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. Tata Zest is priced between Rs. 5.11 lakh to 8.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Following the great initial success of Tiago hatch, Tata is expected to focus on its upcoming launches in India which includes Kite 5 sedan, Tiago AMT, Hexa SUV, Nexon crossover, premium hatchback and Land rover based SUV.
