Tata Kite 5

Tata Tiago based sedan kite 5 is inching closer for the official launch, after being showcased at 2016 auto expo it was snapped doing test runs near Tata’s Sanand plant. Now, the production ready model of Kite 5 compact sedan is snapped at dealership yard wearing no camouflage. Its official launch is expected to take place during the upcoming festive season. Kite 5 is the third offering in the sub 4m section after Indigo eCs and Zest.

The recent spy images reveal the rear of the car which looks phenomenal with well sculptured boot, aggressive looking tail lights, a thin chrome strip that run across the boot. Tata engineers have managed to make it look like a proper sedan not a hatchback with additional boot. The sedan is 3995mm long, 1647mm wide, 1535mm tall and rides on the wheelbase of 2450mm. The cargo capacity of Kite 5 reportedly stands at 420 liters.

The spied images are of top end variant as it sports alloy wheels, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking camera, rear armrest with two cup holders while everything else is expected to borrow from Tiago hatchback. It features three spoke multi function steering wheel, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD etc.

Engine options on offer will remain similar to its hatchback sibling i.e. a 1.05l 3-cylinder diesel engine generation 69bhp and 140Nm; a 1.2l Revotron petrol engine developing 84bhp and 114Nm of torque. Both the engines will get multiple driving modes- Eco and power along with 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Reportedly, 5 speed AT or AMT is also on the cards.

If Tata manages to price Kite 5 sedan in line with the hatchback sibling then it would be series threat to the competition. It is assumed to be priced somewhere close to 4.15 lakh for the entry level while the price of top variant goes at Rs. 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
