Tata Hexa test drive cars start arriving at dealerships, launch next month

Tata’s upcoming mid segment premium SUV Hexa was available for pre-launch drive event in Jaipur and brand has also revealed the specifications of the same. As a part of CEO cricket challenge, participants were given a chance to drive the SUV and test it’s off road capabilities. Scheduled to go on sale in next month, the Hexa has started reaching the dealerships across India.

At its heats, the Tata Hexa will be powered by a 2,179 cc, 4-cylinder, VARICOR 400 diesel engine which delivers 154 BHP@4000 rpm of max power and a peak torque of 400 Nm between 1700-2700 rpm. Transmission duties are taken car by either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. To boost up the road capabilities, it will get various driving modes like auto, comfort, rough road and dynamic.

Hexa is likely to come equip with all four disc brakes, at front it will have a double wishbone type suspension with coil springs while at rear it has 5 link rigid axle with coil springs. Hexa is reworked version of Aria but was designed by Tata’s owned Land Rover design studios. At the front, it gets honeycomb front grille with thick chrome line popularly known as humanity line, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and round fog lamps. The SUV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.

To lend muscular look, it gets side body cladding, roof rails, and spoiler. At rear it packs with elongated tail lamps linked with thick chrome line and twin exhaust.  The Hexa will be loaded with range of safety feature like six airbags, corner stability control, ABS with EBD, engine drag control system, vehicle dynamic control, traction control system and hill start assist.

Hexa is quite a long vehicle as it measures 4788mm in length, 1903mm in width, 1791mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2850mm and ground clearance of 200mm. The SUV crossover will take on the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV500 and expected to cost you in between Rs. 12 lakh to 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
