News on Launch of SsangYong Korando – Price, Specification and Feature

Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian automobile giant who bought the South Korean brand Ssanyong is expected to launch its SUV- Korando C in India by sometime in 2014. The car is already launched in South Korea. The price tag will range from Rs. 14 lacs to Rs. 16 lacs.The dimensions of the car are 4410mm x 1830mm x 1675 mm with a wheelbase of 2650mm.The car will be able to accommodate 7 adults.

Under the Hood:The car shall have a powerful 2.0 l DOHC 4- cyl Turbocharged diesel engine. Both the manual and automatic transmissions are possible with the 6-speed gearbox. Maximum power churned by the vehicle will be 175 bhp @ 4000 rpm and offering max torque of 360 Nm @ 2000-3000 rpm. The car has a unique concept for fuel efficiency because of the Common rail, high-pressure direct injection fuel system along with the EVGT- electric variable geometry turbocharger. The car has excellent suspension at the front as well as rear. There is an anti-roll stabiliser coupled with the suspension arrangement.

Exteriors:  The car has a macho front look with the bold headlamps. There is a deformed rectangle shaped grill holding the brand logo- a stylish ‘S’which stands for Ssanyong. There’s another grill for air-intake purpose which is slightly larger than the above one and with fog lamps on either side. Adding to the Sporty look are the 2 chrome exhaust pipes at the rear.The car is also equipped with rear parking sensors and heated ORVMs.

Interiors: let’s start with the entertainment section there is a 6-speaker audio unit enabled with Bluetooth and phone connectivity. There is anti glare rear view mirror which is electronic in nature along with there is automatic dimming feature of the interior rear view mirror. It is not sure that the car will have navigation system or not.

Let’s talk about safety now- The car is packed with advanced safety features like the ABS or the Anti Braking system, EBD- Electronic Brake Distribution, ESP- Electronic stability program, Brake assist system, hill start assist, active rollover protection etc.

This initiative of launching a South Korean car in India is well thought by Mahindra after the recent success of Mahindra XUV. With these specifications and features Ssanyong hopes to challenge other SUVs in India and beat them.
