Maruti Suzuki India has silently launched refresh version of its most successful Hatchback Swift on 28th October 2014. Refreshed swift receives some cosmetic changes as well as some interior changes as well and Maruti added some more safety features in order to make it safer car. Since its launch Maruti has sold more than 10 lakh units of swift, will refreshed version helps to take this tally further up? Let’s have a look at what refreshed swift has in store for the buyers.
Price:
Price of refreshed Petrol swift starts at Rs. 4.42 lakhs which goes up to Rs. 5.90 lakhs while diesel trim range between Rs. 5.56-6.95 lakhs all the prices are Ex-showroom Delhi.
Engine Details:
Refreshed Version of Swift will continue to get power from predecessor model. The refreshed version of swift is powered with 1.2 k series VVT petrol engine which produces 83BHP power@6000rom and 115Nm torque@4000rpm mated to 5 speed manual transmission and 9.6% of improved mileage which now stands at 20.4 KPL.
While the diesel trim will continue to get power from 1.3L DDis diesel engine which is responsible to produce 74BHP power@4000rpm and 190Nm of peak torque@2000rpm, coupled with 5 speed manual transmission. Fuel efficiency of diesel motor has been improved by 10% which is now at 25.2KPL.
Space and Dimensions:
There is no change in the dimensions of refreshed Swift which are 3850mm length, 1695mm width and 1530mm height. Wheelbase of refreshed swift stands at 2430mm and ground clearance 170mm.
Exterior and Interior:
Refreshed swift gets refreshing exterior changes in the form of redesigned front bumper and new grille, silver shade surrounded bezel fog lamps, new full wheel covers for base variants and new alloy wheels for top variants, side profile gets electrically adjusted ORVM’s with turn indicators and reverse parking sensors.
Inside the cabin you will witness some changes as well like updated speed sensing audio system with bluetooth connectivity, premium upholstery, push start button, steering mounted controls, driver seat height adjustment system, automatic climate control, 6 speaker sound system, additional reading lights and 60:40 rear seat spilt.
Color:
Maruti launched refreshed swift in six colors out of them three are new introduction which are Granite grey, Fire Red and Mysterious Violet and the other three colors are Pearl arctic white, Silky silver and Glistering grey.
Safety:
Maruti has added some new safety features in refreshed swift which are reverse parking sensors, dual airbags and 3 point seat belts, new GEN ABS+ EBD and rear seat belts. Apart from that refreshed swift retain the safety features of its previous GEN swift which are dual horn, child lock, brake assistant, side door impact beams, anti-theft device and iCATS.
Verdict:
Swift has been very successful car since its launch due to its balanced performance on both on and off the road. Now fuel efficiency improved by 10% which is an advantage for Swift and price is also competitive. But whether these changes are enough to catch the youth because young blood get attracts by how catchy is the design of a car.
