News on launch of New Ford Figo- Price, specifications and Features

After introducing Figo Aspire in the country, the American automajor Ford has now launched an all new Figo hatchback with a price starting Rs. 4.29 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base petrol and Rs. 5.29 lakh for the entry level diesel variant. Sharing design cues from Aspire, the second Gen Figo gets six airbags and automatic gearbox to have an edge in the competitive B segment. The car will take on Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Tata Bolt in the country. Here is all you need to know about newly launched Figo hatchback.

Price:

The all new Figo would be manufactured at Ford’s Sanand plant in Gujarat which results in high local content. As a result Ford priced it competitively; the petrol variant starts at Rs. 4.29 lakhs while the base diesel is available for Rs. 5.29 lakhs. The top spec fully loaded Titanium+ variant comes for Rs. 7.40 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

Engine Details:

Like Aspire compact sedan, new Figo also comes with three engine options which are:-

  • The 1.2l 4-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine churns out max power of 86.8bhp @6300rpm and 112Nm of max torque@4000rpm. It comes paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox and delivers 18.16KMPL of ARAI certified mileage.
  • The 1.5l 4-cylinder TDCi diesel engine which is good enough for 99bhp@3750rpm and 215Nm of peak torque between 1750-3000rpm, coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission and delivers 25.83KMPL mileage.
  • Ford has also provided a 1.5l Ti-VCT petrol mill, that develops massive 110bhp power@6300rpm and 136Nm of high torque@4250rpm which comes equipped with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox (a Segment first). The bigger 1.5L petrol mill delivers 17KMPL of mileage.

The inclusion of 1.5L Ti-VCT engine makes new Figo the most powerful hatchback in its segment.

Space and Dimensions:

The new Figo comes with class leading ground clearance and cargo space of 174mm and 257 liters respectively. Its 2491mm of wheelbase ensures enough in cabin space for its occupants with dimensions of 3886mm length, 1695mm width and 1525mm of height.

Exterior and Interior:

The new Figo is based on carmaker’s global design philosophy and also in-line with recently launched Aspire sedan. Starting from the front, new Figo boasts hexagonal shaped front chrome grille flanked by bulbous sweptback headlamps. Figo shares its side profile with Aspire till C-pillar while rear gets a small curvy boot lid with neatly finished tail lights and thick chrome tailgate garnish.

Inside the cabin, company has given some different elements to new Figo to distinguish it from Aspire. The Dual beige layout has been replaced with black interior theme and to give slight contrast flavor, cabin is brushed with silver detailing on AC vents, steering wheel and door pads.

The seats are also finished in black color theme while the central console gets piano black finish to give it some premium feel. In terms of equipments and features, new Figo hatchback comes loaded with 4.2 inch infotainment system for SYNC and APPLINK with voice control function, MY Ford DOCK in lower variants. The top end trims also include automatic climate control, three pod instrument cluster with MID featuring distance to empty, low fuel warning etc.

Other features include keyless entry, electric boot release button, steering mounted controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, 12V power socket at front, rear parking sensors, audio system with USB, Aux-in and bluetooth connectivity.

Colors:

All new Ford Figo is making its presence felt in seven graceful colors-, Sparkling Gold, Smoke Grey, Oxford White, Tuxedo Black, Deep Impact Blue, Ingot Silver and Ruby Red.

Safety:

Ford has also concentrated on safety aspect of new Figo as the base variant gets a driver side airbag while other gets dual front airbags. The top end titanium+ variant features with six airbags making it the safest hatchback in its category with this best in class element. Besides this, new Figo equipped with ABS, EBD, engine immobilizer, ESP (electric stability program), TCS (Traction control system), Perimeter alarm, Hydraulic launch assist (HLA), front and rear 3 point seat belts.
