Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R and GT Roadster Launched in India; Starts at Rs. 2.19 Crore

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its AMG Portfolio in India with the launch of ‘The Beast from Green Hell’ Drop top GT Roadster and AMG GT R, priced at Rs. 2.19 Crore and Rs. 2.23 Crore respectively. With the two new launches, the German automaker has taken its AMG range in India to twelve. The GT-R is more enhanced version of GT-S while roadster graces the charm of a convertible.

The AMG GT Roadster has been entirely designed and developed in-house and follows the same design philosophy of AMG GT-S. It flaunts similar long nose, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, familiar front grille, massive air inducts on the front, classy side profile with 19/20 inch AMG alloy wheels and LED tail lamps at rear. Besides visual appeal, the functioning of the roof takes around 11 seconds and can be carried out up to a speed of 60 km/hr.

The story inside the cabin is also similar to GT-S such as 5-driving modes, AMT traction control, rear limited slip differential, concave door panels, rising central console, macchiato beige exclusive Nappa Style leather seats and much more.

At the heart of a beast is a 4.0 litre V8 Turbocharged engine that makes 469bhp of max output and 630Nm of Torque, linked to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The car tops at 302 km/hr at just 4.0 seconds.

As said, AMT GT-R has been designed and developed keeping in mind the race track such as familiar Panamericana’15-slat radiator grille, low slung profile and shark lookalike front nose. In addition, front fascia with new Jet like design enhances the rugged road presence of the supercar. The side features 20 inch alloy wheels and sloping roofline while rear comes with wide design along with double diffuser and 57mm wider rear track.

On the inside, the Sports seats adorned with Dinamica fiber and Nappa leather and lateral support for driving pleasure. It also comes with piano black interiors with optional yellow seat belts and dials and four spotlight style AC vents and much more.

Powering the handcrafted AMG is a 4.0 litre V8 Bi-Turbo motor that makes 569bhp power and mammoth 699Nm of torque. The engine is linked to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and supports four driving modes- Comfort, sport, Sport plus and Individual. Thanks to powerhouse engine, the car can make 0-100 km/hr in just 3.5 seconds with the top speed of 318 km/hr. The car recently broke fastest lap record by production spec car at Buddh International circuit by ticking 2 min 9.8 seconds. Besides AMG GT-R also has the fastest lap record at Nurburgring for RWD car in just 7 min 9 seconds justifying its tag of ‘Beast of the Green Hell’.
