Mercedes-Benz AMG GT coming to India in March 2015

Mercedes-Benz unveiled AMG GT in September 2014 to the world; AMG GT will replace gull-wing door flagship SLS AMG which was launched in 2010. AMG GT got the killer looks and conventional DNA of Mercedes racing cars which will take SLS legacy one step further. Mercedes AMG GT to be launched in India on 9th March 2015 and will be available in two variants GT and GT S. Prices of this super sports car have not been disclosed yet but we expect it to be cost around Rs. 2-2.25 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) for GT and GT S variants.

In recent times Mercedes has been aggressive when it comes to the launch of its new flagship and Mercedes has shown us that niche segment is also important for them. In terms of styling AMG GT is purely a roadster with stretched out hood, massive grill with three-pointed star and air dam with unique styling which makes it exotic and enthusiast’s dream car.

Mercedes AMG GT will be powered to a new 4.0L V8 twin turbo unit with two state of tunes AMG GT variant to produce 456bhp power and 600Nm of peak torque and can claim 0-100 km mark in 3.9 seconds with the electronically limited top speed of 304 km/hr.

Mercedes AMG GT S variant which is more powerful of the lot produces massive 503bhp power and 650Nm of peak torque, GT S can sprint 0-100 km in just 3.7 seconds with the electronically limited top speed of 310 km/hr. Both the engines are mated to a seven speed dual clutch transmission and an electronic differential which pass on the power to rear wheels.

AMG GT has five driving modes– comfort mode, basic comfort mode, sport mode, sports plus mode and race mode.

AMG GT to be a feature rich car with standard features like a burmester audio system, Nappa leather upholstery, various trim options– matte carbon fiber, silver chrome, black diamond and high luster carbon fiber, radar based cruise control and many more features. The dashboard and overall look of the cabin is futuristic complimented by Merc’s new steering wheel.

AMG GT will hit the Indian roads with tones of safety features like AMG dynamic suspension, adaptive braking technology, 3-point seat belts with force limiters, Parktronic system, Pre-safe system, collision prevention assist, lane keeping assist, blind spot assist, front airbags, thorax side airbags, window and knee airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system and rear view camera.

SLS AMG sold in good numbers in India so it will be interesting to see how AMG GT performs and it will lock its horns with Porsche 911, Audi R8 and Jaguar F type coupe.
