Maruti Ignis details revealed; bookings start from 1st January

Maruti Suzuki Ignis is all set to become India’s first premium urban compact vehicle on upcoming January 13, 2017. The Ignis which was first revealed at 2016 Auto Expo has been revealed in a preview event in New Delhi today. Bookings will commence from the first week of January and it will be brand’s first ever which can be booked online as well.

Maruti Ignis will be available with the same tried and tested engines- 1.2l petrol and 1.3l DDis diesel. Both the iterations will be available with manual as well as AMT gearbox. The car gets unconventional styling tall stance, boxy rear, massive C-pillar, flared wheel arches to justify crossover badge.

The boxy stance is accompanied by LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, roundish fog lamps with chrome garnish, black plastic cladding all around, ORVMs with turn indicators, 15 inch alloy wheels and rear wiper. After the great response of dual tone shade of Vitara Brezza, Maruti will also offer customization options for fog lamp bezels, roof wraps and front grille.

For infotainment, it will get a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple car play, Android auto, mirror link and navigation. The dashboard will be finished in dual tone beige color with faux carbon

In terms of features, Ignis is loaded with Keyless entry and push button start/stop, Height adjustable driver seat, Power windows with driver side auto up/down, New steering wheel with controls, Climate control, Rear parking sensors, 60:40 split rear seat, Headlamp leveling, Front door pockets with bottle holders, Multi information display with outside temperature, low fuel warning, fuel level, fuel efficiency etc.

Maruti is offering ABS and dual-airbags as standard across the range along with seatbelt pretensioners and ISOFIX mounts. The base variant of Ignis is expected to start at Rs. 4.5 lakh and will go up to Rs. 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Ignis will take on the likes of Mahindra KUV100, Hyundai i20 active, Volkswagen Cross Polo.
