By launching the i10 Grand, South Korean carmaker hopes to fill the gap between the i10 and i20 hatchbacks to compete with wider variety of hatchbacks from Maruti Suzuki and other brands.

The car is available in 9 variants CRDi Asta Option, CRDi Sportz, Asta Option, CRDi Magna, CRDi Era, Sportz, Magna and Era, with the topmost being the CRDi Asta Option with a price tag of Rs. 6.42 lacs and the lowest being the Era with a price tag of Rs. 4.3 lacs. The car is quite spacious for a hatchback! Some attractive features of the car are rear A/C vents, rear parking camera and sensors, glove box and safety features like dual airbags, smart key and Anti- braking system.

Driving mechanism: On driving the U2 1.1 l diesel engine, our expert found that the car is in a struggling position until in the 2nd gear but afterwards it s quite smooth. The NVH level is low which is quite pleasing and the ride quality is overall good. Since, the car has good suspension and a little firm too but that is quite helpful to save you from humps and bumps. The power steering feels and looks good giving optimum results.

Exteriors: Coming to the looks the side moldings and roof railings give a sporty look to the car. This car too like all latest cars from Hyundai follows the Fluidic design philosophy. The bucket shaped front wide grill is unique to this car. The bonnet looks simple with a sleek chrome line at the bottom of it holding the Hyundai logo in the centre. The front lamps are big accompanied by small fog lamps. At the rear too the car has handsome tail lamps. The side profile has just the right bulges and has body coloured door handles and ORVMs with turn indicators on them.

Interiors: On the inside, the entertainment box grooves you to music with its 2 Din integrated music system. The system is enabled with Bluetooth as well with an internal memory of 1 gb. The audio controls on the steering makes it quite easy to change tracks yet not distracting you from driving. The sound quality is fairly good. The gearknob is placed at the dashboard just like in i10, the funda unique to Hyundai only. The car gives ergonomic and quick moves, thus making it perfect to drive through city traffic and also to park.

Mileage: On the driving test, fuel efficiency observed was 15-16 kpl rather than 24kpl which Hyundai boasts, which definitely was shocking. The max power observed was 71 PS and max Torque was 160 Nm. But the various new technological aspects which you can rarely expect in a hatchback are there, which definitely attracts crowd especially when it is available at affordable rates.

The car is also available in the 1.2 Kappa petrol version for those whose fuel choice is petrol, but the mileage is obviously much less than Diesel version.

So all you Hyundai fans, check this car out through a test ride. Good luck for the mileage figures!!
