Honda Accord has finally made its comeback into Indian market after being discontinued two years ago. Honda’s one of the bestselling cars having retailed 1.9 million units across the globe since its launch. The executive sedan is now back with hybrid powertrain and being imported as CBU unit at Rs. 37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Sadly, it will not be benefited under government’s FAME initiative owing to CBU route whereas its arch rival Toyota Camry hybrid avails of.

Price:

At the whopping price of Rs. 37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it will take on likes of Audi A4, BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C class.

Engine Details:

The big beast is powered by a familiar 2.0 litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that churns out 145bhp power and 175Nm of torque. The traditional motor is bundled with a 1.3KW/ lithium ion battery powered electric motor that belts out 184bhp and 315Nm. Honda Accord hybrid’s collective power output stands at 212bhp. Honda Accord hybrid claims a fuel efficiency of 23Kmpl for new Accord hybrid.

The hybrid system is available in three modes– Hybrid drive, EV and engine drive. In the first hybrid drive mode the engine acts as an initiator and electric power is supplied by both the batteries while in EV mode the car is driven under battery but the range is limited to 2km only. In the engine drive mode, the engine supplies power to wheels directly.

Space and Dimensions:

The Ninth generation model measures 4933mm in length, 1849mm in width, 1464mm in height and sits on a wheelbase of 2776. It’s a five seater sedan that offers fuel tank capacity of 60 liters.

Exterior and Interior:

As for the exterior design, the hybrid accord now features all LED head lamps with daytime running lights, familiar chrome front grille flanked by sporty front bumper with glossy black finish and LED fog lamps. There’s tinge of blue color around the grille and headlamps to showcase sedan’s hybrid nature. At sides, it gets taller stance, sharper body lines and new diamond cut 18 inch alloy wheels. Rear profile is adorned with revised bumper, LED combo tail lamps and built in spoiler makes the design futuristic.

Like exterior, cabin too looks sophisticated and equipment loaded with elements like electric sunroof, dual zone automatic climate control, remote pre-heating and pre-cooling of the cabin, active noise cancellation, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, remote start function and much more. The front co-passenger seat can be moved from rear via seat shoulder mounted buttons. The cabin receives two screens one at central console and other on top of dashboard. One is for multi function display while other is a touchscreen infotainment display with support to Android auto and Apple car play.

Colors:

The Hybrid Accord is available in four exterior paint schemes- modern steel metallic, white orchid pearl, crystal black pearl and lunar silver metallic.

Safety:

Honda has packed hybrid accord with both active and passive safety features like six airbags including side and i-side curtain airbags, front-rear parking sensors, traction control, lane watch assist, hill start assist, multi view rear camera, ABS with EBD, stability control, brake assist, vehicle stability assist, programmable auto door lock/unlock, active cornering lamps, acoustic vehicle alert system, emergency stop signal and Honda lane watch. The occupant protection is also get strengthened thanks to Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure.
