General Motors India confirms Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and Spin MPV for India

In recent times things have not turned greatly for Chevrolet as last 1-2 years have been a mere disappointment. Chevrolet manages to click only 5 thousand units a month only majorly supported by Beat and Tavera. Chevrolet’s other variants like Cruze, Sail sedan, Sail hatchback, Captiva and Enjoy fails to grab good sales numbers for GM. In order to improve sales General motors’ is planning to launch new range of cars and some facelift models in 2015.

Recently Spin MPV was spied testing on Indian roads and with that rumors regarding its launch in India have started so to quiet all the rumors GM issued a press release which confirms the launch of Spin MPV in India in 2016 and Trailblazer SUV this year.

Spin MPV will sit above Chevrolet Enjoy which measures 4360mm long, 1735mm wide and 1683mm tall with the wheelbase of 2620mm and has a seating capacity of seven persons with three rows. Chevrolet has used high quality materials in the cabin with A/c vents for all three rows.

Internationally Spin MPV features a 1.2L VVTi petrol engine that develops 85bhp power and 115Nm torque and a 1.5L petrol engine with more power of 107bhp and 142Nm torque. Apart from Petrol mill Spin MPV has one 1.3L diesel engine with 74bhp power and 190Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic.

Talking about the Trailblazer which was showcased in 2014 auto expo has a 2.8L VGT engine with 200bhp power and 500Nm of peak torque and available with a 6 speed automatic or a 6 speed manual. Internationally 2.8L engine is offered with a 6 speed automatic only while 2.5L diesel is mated to a manual gearbox but it will be interesting to see what engine makes it to Indian market.

In 2015 General Motors is planning to export around 19,000 cars to 40 countries with major part will be exported to Mexico and Chile. In current GM have 247 sales outlets and 270 service channels across India.
