General Motors halts off Chevrolet Enjoy MPV in India

Enjoy MPV

Chevrolet Enjoy, a dud seller since its launch now soon will be discontinued from the Indian market. Launched in 2013 to take on Maruti Suzuki Ertiga never really set sales chart on fire and this year it didn’t able to cross even four digit number a month. This force General motor’ to discontinue Enjoy and make space for Spin MPV that was showcased at 2016 Auto Expo. The company even launched some special limited editions of the MPV but still it the poor performance remains static. Chevrolet currently has eight in the armory from beat to Trailblazer but none of them is a volume booster.

Chevrolet is fuelled by both petrol and diesel engines- the former is powered by a 1.4 litre that puts out 101bhp power and 132Nm of torque while the diesel takes juice from a 1.2 litre mill which is capable of producing 76bhp and 188Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox. The MPV is priced between Rs. 6.51 to 9.17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Last month, sales of Chevrolet stand at 2615 units for the domestic market marking a decline of 20.4 percent. On the contrary, company has exported 1680 units of the MPV registering a massive growth of 320 percent. Owing to great response, company is shifting its focus towards export and doubled the target for this financial year.

After Enjoy, GM might also pull the plug off on Sail hatchback and sail sedan which is expected to be replaced by Beat Active and Essentia compact sedan. Chevrolet will launch five new models by next two years including Trailblazer facelift, Beat Essentia, Beat Activ, new Cruze and Spin MPV.
