BMW launches 520d M Sport in India; Priced at Rs. 54 lakhs

BMW India has expanded the lineup of its popular and best selling 5 series by introducing 520d M sport with price starting at Rs. 54 lakh (Ex-showroom Pan India). Built locally at company’s Chennai Plant, the new version will be sold alongside the standard 520. The new M sport edition is available at all BMW dealerships across India in three color shades- Mediterranean Blue, Alpine White and Carbon Black. So what’s different this variant is offering over the standard version? Let’s have a look.

The BMW 520d Sport gets M package which includes new front bumper with bigger air intakes, remolded side skirts, double spoke 18 inch M alloy wheels making front more aggressive. To further distinguish it from the standard variant, it gets a small M badge on the door sill and front fender.

Coming to the rear, the changes on board are a black chrome exhaust tip, new bumper with black diffuser and tweaked LED tail lights. Other features include an adaptive LED headlights, familiar kidney shaped grille etc.

The overall layout of the cabin remains unchanged while buyers now have multiple upholstery option i.e. black with beige stitching or beige. The M Multi-function steering wheel is draped with paddle shifters and first-rate leather. In terms of features, it comes shod with full color BMW head display with iDrive touch controller and navigation, dual zone automatic climate control, electrically adjustable front seats, individual headliner anthracite, aluminum hexagon interior trim, Eco Pro mode, auto start/stop button, brake energy regeneration, Harmon Kardon audio system and two 23.3 cm rear seat infotainment screens etc.

It is equipped with heaps of safety techs like dynamic stability control, anti-lock braking system, side impact protection, dynamic traction control, electronic immobilizer, rear view parking camera, park distance control, six airbags, hill descent control and cornering braking control.

At its heart is a standard 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that puts 190bhp of power and 400Nm of torque, linked to an 8-speed steptronic automatic gearbox. The powerful combo compels car to perform 0-100km acceleration in 7.7 seconds while whacking the top speed of 233km/hr. The sedan claims to deliver a fuel efficiency of 18.12 Kmpl thanks to BMW fuel saving technologies.
