Hyundai has finally entered into sedan segment globally by unveiling its much awaited grand i10 based sedan car namely Hyundai Xcent. It was the most noticeable car by Hyundai at this 12th Auto Expo which attracts everyone’s attention. The Grand i10 is already running successfully worldwide in hatchback category, and now its car’s turn to perform well in sedan hood too. Let’s see what this new Xcent gets.

Price:

The exact price range is not disclosed yet, but the Xcent is expected with the price tag between 4.66-7.38 lakhs.

Engine details:

The new Xcent would be powered by the same engine units like the Grand i10 hatchback. The 1197cc, 1.2 liter 4-cylinder petrol engine will churn out the max output of 81.86bhp and 114Nm, while the 1120cc, 1.1 liter 4-cylinder diesel engine will produce 71.01bhp of max power and 180Nm of peak torque.

Though company has just revealed that it will carry the both petrol and diesel engine units but the capacity and power are not confirmed, hence this above mentioned info could be termed as tentative till the launch.

Also, its diesel unit is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox while the petrol unit gets 4-speed automatic transmission too as an option along with 5-speed manual.

Space & Dimension:

It’s a sub-4 meter sedan whose exact dimension is not revealed yet by the company but obviously it will be longer than the current i10 Grand hatchback. However, being a compact sedan, the overall length would not cross four meters.

Interior & Exterior:

As per the company’s official website, the Hyundai Xcent with its aerodynamic and sporty profile projects a modern and progressive styling which contains smoked headlamps and wrap-around tail lamps with chrome insert, chrome finish hexagonal air dam, steeply raked windshield, front bumper with integrated spoiler design, sporty dual tone rear bumper with stylish reflectors, 15” diamond cut alloy wheels and classy chrome door handles etc.

Contrary, its spacious interior is designed with bright dual tone beige and black interiors with high quality plastic, premium designed dashboard integrated with hexagonal outlined audio, steering mounted audio controls and Bluetooth, multiple storage options in door trims and centre console, rear AC vents, smart key with push button start, rear parking camera and sensors, 2-DIN audio with USB, CD player with 1GB internal memory, auto folding mirrors, glove box cooling, rear parking assist, central locking and rear defogger etc.

Road handling & Safety:

When engines are repeating themselves, then we can’t expect any major change in the road performance of these cars. Although, the ongoing Grand i10 hatchback is one of the successful hatchbacks in terms of road handling and performance and also maintained its position in top five hatchbacks of 2013. Hence it wouldn’t be surprising if company serves the as it is performance like its predecessor.

As per its safety is concerned, it is well adorned with antilock braking system (ABS), dual airbags etc.

In India, Xcent sedan will compete with popular Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Toyota Etios and Honda Amaze etc.

Speaking at the launch, B S Seo, Managing Director & CEO, HMIL said, “The Xcent is a world-class product developed for the Indian market. We at HMIL are proud to launch the modern family sedan in India. Xcent symbolizes Hyundai’s commitment to Indian customers by offering high standards of quality, durability and reliability. Xcent with its excellent value proposition and its unique first-in-segment features will serve a wide range of customers in India raising the benchmark in the segment.”
