At the 2016 auto expo, Mahindra and Mahindra have concentrated more on hybrid vehicles such Verito, E2O etc but the show stealer was company’s XUV Aero four door SUV crossover concept based on the similar monocoque of the premium SUV, XUV500. According to Mahindra, Aero has been design and developed by the team of 45 engineers with the inputs of Pininfarina which is now under M&M.
At a first glance, one clearly see that its design bear resemblance to Mercedes-Benz GLE coupe and BMW X6. At the front, it flaunts similar design cues of XUV500 with large signature grille, bulgy bonnet and big L shaped LED DRL strips on both the projector headlights. The side profile is graced by suicide door styling and flared wheel arches while at rear tri slat LED tail lamps and diffuser gives the SUV crossover unique styling.
On the inside, expect all the bells of whistles of premium SUV such as automatic climate control, big large tablet at the centre, leather upholstery, dual tone theme, big touchscreen infotainment system, multiple airbags, aluminium accents, disc brakes on all four wheels and other futuristic connectivity.
To compliment the elegance concept, the coupe Crossover is expected to be powered by the high performance mhawk that develops close to 210bhp of max output along with a next Gen turbo boost for high power output. The engine is also coupled to low pressure EGR adaptability and better fuel mileage.
Owing to powerful engine, the Aero is capable of achieving 0-100km mark from a standstill in under 6 seconds. The engine is assisted by an automatic transmission, multiple drive and suspension modes such as street, sport, off road and race. The Aero is expected to be launched in India during the festive around the price range of Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Alongside the beast, M&M also showcased SsangYong Tivoli, Reva and KUV100 etc.
