2015 Volvo Next Gen XC90 Revealed – Price, Specifications and Features

The Swedish car maker ‘Volvo’ has officially revealed the 2015 Volvo XC90 SUV. It will replace the company’s 12 year old model. Volvo decided to reveal XC90 ahead of its debut in Paris auto show. XC90 will be the 1st model of Volvo which would be based on Scalable product architecture (SPA) platform. Volvo launches XC90 on 27 August 2014 at Art hall near Stockholm.  This car brings Volvo closer of their goal of not letting single person Die or be injured in Volvo which is deadline at 2020.

Price:

XC90 1927 limited edition comes with the price of Rs. 68 lakh all taxes exclusive which is costlier than its counterpart Mercedes Benz ML and Audi Q7.

Engine details:

XC90 will be available in 3 trimsR-design, Momentum and Inscription which is further divided into three power trains i.e. two diesel engines and one petrol electric hybrid engine.

The standard XC90 gets 2.0L turbocharged and Supercharged engine with excellent 245BHP power and Top variant T8 will get twin engines, it comprises of 2L turbocharged and Supercharged petrol engine which emits 394BHP max power and 640nm Torque. It is based on 6 speed automatic all wheel drive transmission.

XC90 accelerates 0-100 KPH in 10.3 sec; it has fuel efficiency of 11.1 KMPL.

Space & Dimensions:

XC90 measures 4807mm in length which is 179mm shorter than Audi Q7 but it is wider and taller car than Q7 with 2112mm width and 1784mm height while Q7 has 1983mm and 1737mm respectively. XC90 has 218mm ground clearance which is better than Audi Q7 but 5mm less than Mercedes ML class carrying.

It has comfortable seating capacity of 7 adults with last two seats can easily fits person of 5’7” height easily.  It carries wheelbase of 2857mm and Big 21 inch wheels.

Interiors and Exteriors:

Main highlighting interior features of XC90 are its 9 inch tablet like touch screen display which is placed at central console controls almost all the functions of car and it is sub divided into four divisions of navigation, Media, phone and weather and main attraction of interior is gear lever which is made of crystal glass, diamond cut volume control buttons and 3rd row A/C vents. XC90 is equipped with mind boggling Bowers and Wilkins audio system which is extravagant for Music lovers.

XC90 is furnished with wood finish covering from door to door and clean finish central console. Steering wheel with dual tone colors looks stunning. Premium quality fabric has been used on seats which are soft and comfortable to seat.

“These details are designed to become the jewels of the interior. They add a bit of exclusive playfulness rather than pure functionality,” said Robin Page, Volvo Car’s Interior Design Director.

Externally, Led lights at front and Adjustable headlights With ‘T’ (Thor hammer) shaped DRL are its one of the special features.  Sides of the car are muscularly yet elegantly built; Taillights are made of typically Volvo design.

Front grille is wider now with an ‘iron mark’ badge. It also have sunroof, integrated antenna, electric folding rear view mirror, front-rear defoggers and rain sensing wipers are some of its extraordinary features.

Colors:

XC90 is offered in 6 beautiful colors which are Electric silver, Ice white metallic, Ember black metallic, Twilight bronze metallic, Savile Grey metallic and Caspian blue metallic. Its competitor Mercedes Benz ML class offers more range in color with total of around 9 color options.

Safety:

XC90 is loaded with massive list of safety features like auto brake functions, energy absorbing seats and seat frame to save the persons sitting in the car from hard landings, it also carries special feature of self brake which puts auto brakes when car going faster than it excepted.

XC90 gets a package of curtain 7 airbags for all seats, 360 degree camera, Reverse parking assistance, Side and front impact beams makes it a very safe car. ABS, EBD, anti theft alarm, day-night rear view mirrors and vehicle stability control system are just a trailer of what XC90 carries in terms of safety features.
