Volkswagen seems to make 2014 a year to remember for the Indian market and themselves as well. Volkswagen recently launched Polo’s facelift in July which is getting praise from everywhere and to carry this appraisement to another level Volkswagen is coming with another launch of its sedan ‘Vento’ this month. Volkswagen Polo received quite a bit changes in exterior and interior so we can also expect some for ‘Vento’ as well.

Vento will get same 1.5L TDI Diesel engine which we have seen in Polo which will produce 104BHP peak power @4400rpm and 250nm torque @1500-2500rpm. This 1.5L TDI engine is mated with 5 speed manual transmission as standard and 7 Speed DSG (direct shift gearbox).

Petrol variants of Vento might get equipped with same configuration as the current one which is, 1.6L petrol and 1.2L TSI with 5 speed and 7 speed DSG transmissions respectively.

Hyundai Verna is the only car in the segment which is being equipped with automatic transmission, in era of increasing demand for automatic variants this will surely make Vento a car to watch out for and adds up in the list of automatic cars.

Previous version of Volkswagen Vento was impressive in terms of design, interiors and build quality but it was not shown much on Volkswagen sales chart. Vento was not able to stand with the class and interior ambience of Honda city and Hyundai Verna. We expect more innovations in New Vento as it has to erase the flaws of its previous version and become more competitive in order to give tuff competition to City and Verna.

In terms of changes Vento facelift version might get new LED headlamps (for top variant only), new grille, new cornering lamps, new bumpers, big renewed alloy wheels and additional color options like Polo’s carroty color.

Volkswagen Vento will not have huge changes in interiors seats, upholstery, design as well dashboard will remain same like current version of Vento with some minor updations. New infotainment system is on the cards as well; from safety point of view it will be equipped with Cruise control, city braking system.

Price of Vento facelift will be around Rs. 7.50 -10.5 lakhs. It will compete against the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda city, Skoda rapid and upcoming Maruti Ciaz.
