The Innova Crysta launched earlier this year has been a runway success for the Indian arm of Japanese car manufacturer Toyota Kirloskar motors. The carmaker had introduced the new Gen MPV with two diesel engines but it wasn’t on sale in Delhi NCR and Kerala regions due to prevailing diesel car ban. The only way to overcome the situation is to launch a petrol engine and that’s what Toyota did.

After lots of ifs and buts and speculations, Innova Crysta finally gets petrol version. It is available in six variants– GX MT (7-seater), GX MT (8-seater), VX MT (7-seater), GX AT (7-seater), GX AT (8-seater) and ZX AT (7-seater) with prices starting at Rs. 13.72 lakh and goes up to Rs. 19.62 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Innova Crysta has been doing well since its launch with monthly average sales of 8000 units and is also the best selling UV in the country.

The new Innova Crysta also marks the entry of the new 2.7 litre dual VTT-I engine that is good for 166PS power@5200rpm and 245Nm of torque@4000rpm. The petrol can be had in either 5-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic transmission. As par ARAI, mileage figures stand at 10.83 Kmpl for the automatic while manual returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 9.89 Kmpl. The petrol engine also comes with two driving modes- Eco and power.

Like diesel, the petrol variants are also available with an array of safety features like 7 airbags, hill start assist control, vehicle stability control, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD), height adjustable Seatbelt with Pre Tensioner & Force Limiter (PT/FL) for front seat, brake assist, cruise control, keyless entry and go, stability control etc.

Speaking on the launch of petrol Innova Crysta Mr. Akito Tachibana, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “The Innova is an iconic brand and has long established itself as the number 1 MPV in the Indian market. This can be further reiterated with the overwhelming success of the new Innova Crysta which was launched earlier this year. Often referred to as the segment creator, the brand Innova has proved itself again by being the first in the segment to offer a vehicle with a petrol variant. At Toyota, we are constantly striving to make our products even better catering to the varied and changing needs of our customers. We are confident that the new petrol variant of the Innova Crysta further reiterates Toyota’s commitment to the Indian market and will add to customer delight.”
