Toyota Etios - Critics Review

Affordability coupled with fuel efficiency is quite an important factor to an Indian buyer however not the only factor. Toyota seems to have faced this huge misconception while creating their Etios. Toyota’s this affordable car was eagerly waited for and met with a lot of disappointments due to its plane Jane qualities. The new avatar of the car, even though is not disappointing yet its definitely mediocre.

Price
The new Etios is starts at Rs 8.15 lakhs

Exteriors and Interiors

Styling wise one of the major setbacks of the new Etios is the fact that the changes are not noticeable due to the tiny alterations to the grille, lamps and rear-view mirrors which somehow does not make quite a countable difference.Even though interiors wise the hype oflots of changes is seen yet the quality of the material remains the same the only difference of the colour which again in a lot of ways is not quite the important change. Also there is theimprovement with the air-con’s yet its not significant enough. Gadgets wise one of the most important led down is the lack of automatic climate control which ispresent in cars most of its competitors

Engine

Toyota hasn’t made any coinable changes in this department front and thus, the Etios continues to be the same old 1.5-litre petrol engine with 89bhp of torque and 1.4-litrediesel engine with 67bhp of torque. It must be noted that due to lack of changes in diesel engine, its performance remains unsatisfactory. The most disappointing aspect is that once you are past 4000rpm, the engine fails to offer any support making us to yearn for the slick and light gearbox which sadly the Etios does not offer. As if all this wad not disappointing enough the clutch is quite heave that almost excruciates the left ankle. Mileage offered by this car is 14.9kpl in the city and 19 on the highway which is better than the previous avatar yet not impactful enough.

On the road

The soft suspension setup acts as a boon as well as a bane. Whileit enhances comfort and, cancels the noise, it also sadlyspoils the handling department of the car.Seats even though are told to be comfortable yet somehow you keep on bouncing of the car seat. Also, the steering is quite unsupporting and hence somehow fails to follow controls of your hand.
Also the damping is hyped a lot but in reality the car’s sharp movements can be felt hardover uneven uneven surfaces. The car is definitely not to die for or in love kinds when it comes to driving.The low-geared steering is filled with turns lock-to-lock making thisfault just like the spoilt cherry over a half spoilt cake.

Verdict
The new Etois has just accessorized the car in terms of looks, making it more fashionable however the build of the seems to be the same which is a huge thumbs down. Also even these changes are quite late in their arrival as all the other rival companies hold cars that are much more superior to this car.
