Skoda Octavia vRS revealed; coming to India in 2017

Soon after launching updated Octavia, the Czech automaker Skoda has revealed the facelift version of flagship Octavia RS. The most powerful Octavia ever will carry new design changes and upgraded engines. Octavia’s vRS badge might not have the persona of VW GTI but still it is one of the fastest cars around. Besides design upgrades, it gets dual headlights along with 8bhp bump in power output for the 2.0l TSI engine.

The performance version will carry the updated Octavia design flanked by spilt LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, aggressive front bumper, wider air dam, bigger honeycomb grille ad new bigger alloy wheels. At rear there’s not much contrast from the current one albeit revised LED tail lamps and LED lights for number plate.

The new Octavia vRS also comes loaded with driver aid system include rear traffic alert which suggests driver of approaching traffic while reversing, blind spot detect, trailer assist, crew protect assist function, which shuts downs the sunroof, windows and tightens seatbelts in case of imminent crash situation. However it misses out semi autonomous traffic jam assist system.

Skoda hasn’t disclosed any interior updates but it will get new sports seat with Alcantara leather, all black theme 9.2 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android auto, Apple car play, aluminium paddle, scuff plates, dual zone automatic climate control, sunroof, leather wrapped multi function steering wheel with paddle shifters and a lot more.

Coming to the core part, the engines which include a 2.0l turbocharged petrol and 2.0 litre diesel. The oil burner delivers a healthy 182bhp power and 380Nm of torque while the turbocharged petrol is good for 217bhp power and 350Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are taken care by a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic DSG gearbox. The petrol engine propels car to accelerate 0-100 km/hr in just 6.7 seconds. The drive selector lets driver set up the adaptive dampers into Comfort, Normal or Sport mode. With an expected price around Rs. 22 lakh, we expect Skoda Octavia vRS on Indian shores by mid 2017.
