The Renault Kwid has gained a lot appreciation in the entry level hatch segment since its launch in September last year. The Kwid was one of the quickest to snatch 1.5 lakh bookings and in no time became the second best selling model in its segment. Riding high on its success, Renault will launch Kwid with new heart i.e. 1.0 litre engine on 22nd August in India. And, you can now book new Kwid at a minimum token amount of Rs. 10,000 while deliveries will initiate in the first week of September.

The specs details of Kwid 1.0 SCe have been revealed and will be offered with the top spec RXT variant and an optional trim. As per ARAI, the car delivers 23.01 KMPL which is one of the best in the segment and it also has the best in class power to weight ratio (97PS/ton) car. With bigger engine, the car will take on Hyundai Eon 1.0 and Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. Under the skin will be a 1.0 litre SCe petrol engine which pumps out 67bhp of power and 91Nm of high torque. Initially, it will be available with a 5-speed manual gearbox powering the front wheels while AMT will be followed soon by upcoming festive season. The suspension, brakes and wheels will be identical to 799cc Kwid.

The SUV-ish design will be carry forward with almost no change except for the minor tweaks like grey colored ORVMs, SCe badge on the trunk lid and racy decals on the doors. While interiors and features remain same as that of standard Kwid which includes 7 inch Media NAV touchscreen system with USB, bluetooth, aux-in and navigation, dual tone dashboard, digital speedometer, remote keyless entry, two front speakers, 12V power socket, front power windows, foldable backrest, rear parcel tray and optional driver side airbag. We’d loved to see new Kwid with dual front airbags along and anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard.
