News on Facelift of Mahindra XUV 500 & revised features

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its new premium XUV 500 on 26th September 2013 with price reduction, also with addition as well as deduction of some features. The reason behind this launch of face-lifted version is obviously to increase the sales of premium SUV in this festive season.

Price:

Its price is now reduced from 12.27-14.99 lakhs to 10.88-12.88 lakhs. Though, this is just introductory price, as company is also planning to revise its price after the three months of its launch.

Engine details:

As reported till now, this face-lift car is available in three variants (all in diesel) namely XUV500 W6, XUV500 W8, XUV500 WD. This SUV is equipped with the same 4-cylinder, mHawk diesel engine along with 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. It also offers the option of an all-wheel drive (AWD). This engine churns out the max power of 140bhp and peak torque of 330Nm. The ARAI certified mileage of this face-lift is same as its predecessor i.e. 15.1 km/l.

Space:

The dimension is also same like its predecessor. It is 4585mm in length, 1890mm in width and 1785 in height. But it is being said that the ground clearance of this car has reduced from 200mm to 170mm. It has the seating capacity for seven passengers and offers 930 liters of amazing boot space. While it gives the minimum turning radius of 5.6m, the fuel tank capacity is of 70 liters.

Safety:

Safety wise, company has upgraded its feature; the dual airbags have been replaced by the six airbags. The other safety features like ABS with EBD and immobilizer are available as before.

Interior & Exterior:

As reported till now, some premium features have been deducted from its base model like cruise control, telescopic steering wheel etc but available in the other two top variants. No deductions have been take place from its two top variants.

Road handling:

This SUV is well equipped by its sporty suspension setup i.e. McPherson strut at front and an independent multi-link suspension at rear which delivers excellent ride and handling. The all improved disc brakes are embellished in all four wheels; also this braking system has become noiseless unlike its predecessor. Its tires have 17 inches alloy wheels and car can accelerate 0-100 km/h in 12.5 seconds with the top speed of 175 km/h.

Verdict:

Mahindra is a well known manufacturer and serving in India since long time. In this festive season, this re-launching of XUV500 can be a good opportunity for the buyers who are planning to buy a family based vehicle, and also company’s wish of increment in sales could be fulfilled.
