Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the facelift version of its royal SUV Land Cruiser Prado on 5th December 2013. This SUV has been given a positive response in terms of sales since its first launch in 2004 and company seems satisfied with its success too, probably this is the reason that Toyota wants to take this car ahead in the market and bringing it after refreshing its exterior as well as interior. The bookings of this trendy vehicle have been started from the day of launch i.e. Thursday, 5th December.

Price:

This facelift SUV has come with quite a competitive price tag according to its segment, which is 84.87 lakhs.

Engine details:

Reportedly, no mechanical changes have been done in it; this renovated version also carries the same 2982cc, 3.0 liter D4-D diesel engine mated with 5-speed automatic transmission gearbox. This powerful engine churns out the max output of 171bhp and 410Nm and offers the ARAI certified mileage of 11.13 km/l.

Space & Dimension:

Dimension wise, this facelift version is also similar as its predecessor which offers the seating capacity for seven passengers and continue with the overall dimension of 4780mm*1885mm*1880mm along with the wheelbase, ground clearance and boot space of 2790mm, 220mm and 500 liters, respectively.

Colors selection:

It’s interior and exterior are those sections where Land Cruiser Prado gets major changes as well as modifications. To make it more attractive than ever, company is offering this SUV in five different colors which includes Metallic Dark Blue, Metallic Silver, Metallic Grey, Black and Crystal Shine Pearl White; also there are two interior colors options too i.e. Flaxen and Black.

Interior & Safety features:

To justify its luxury badge, few new features have been introduced by the company with this facelift launch, first is crawl control which helps keep you at a steady, low speed on challenging roads, when you need to concentrate on steering, second is multi-terrain select system which allows you to choose between five road condition modes- Rock, Rock & Dirt, Mogul, Loose Rock and Mud & Sand, one can easily change the vehicle’s settings to match the present road condition at the flick of a switch. The other premium features include a 7-inch display unit, new optitron meter (a colored LED lighting for backlighting the instrument cluster), heater at second row etc. It also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as a safety feature.

Exterior:

At outside, this royal look SUV is now designed with rear license plate garnish, aggressive grille and modified bumpers, renovated fog lamps along with LED light headlamps as well as rear combination lamp and daytime running lights.

Road handling:

As per the road handling is concerned, the ongoing LC Prado provides a comfort feel and better drivability with its strong braking system as well as suspension and undoubtedly we expect the same from this new version. But still some mechanical changes could be done with this facelift to make the road performance better than its predecessor. The ongoing Prado accelerates 0-100km/h in 13.9 seconds with the top speed of 167 km/h.

Car Zoom’s take:

Though company has tried better to give a tough competition to its SUV’s rivals and also to maintain the car’s position not only in SUV but in luxury cars segment too, still we were expecting some mechanical changes too to make the engine more noiseless as well as vibration-less and also mileage could definitely be improved.
