Tata globally launched its most innovative car Tata Zest on 13 August 2014. Tata zest surprises you with its interior and exterior as Tata cars are not famous for their fascia. Tata brings 2-3 first in segment introductions, like automatic diesel transmission etc. Can these innovations be able to convert into high sales for Tata? Let’s have a look what Zest has to offer.

Price:

Tata’s compact sedan is evenly priced. Petrol variant starts with Rs. 4.64 lakhs to Rs 5.99 lakhs. It is much less than its competitors like Maruti Dzire, Honda amaze and Hyundai Xcent. On the other Hand, same can be said for Diesel one as well, which starts at Rs  5.64 lakhs to Rs 6.99 lakhs which is less than Dzire and Amaze, but a bit higher than Hyundai Xcent.

Engine Details:

Tata zest is launched with two engine options I.e. Petrol and Diesel. Petrol comes with 4 variants (XE, XM, XMS, and XT) and Diesel with 5 variants (XE, XM, XMS, XT and XMA). Diesel engine is sub- divided in two options; one is 1.3L turbo charged Quadrajet with 74BHP power and 200nm Torque and another one 1.3L Quadrajet Turbocharged engine with 89BHP max power and 200nm Peak torque. Only difference here is power. Whereas petrol with 90BHP power and 140nm of peak torque.

Tata zest is offering a better range in terms of engine than Honda amaze, Xcent and Dzire in petrol trim, in diesel trim is only lacks behind Honda amaze only.

Space and Dimensions:

Tata Zest is widest and tallest in the segment or in comparison with its competitors. Tata zest measures at 3995mm in length, 1706mm wide and 1570mm tall. In terms of length stand equal with its competitors. On the wheelbase front Zest stands at first position with 2470mm of wheelbase.

Ground clearance of petrol version is 175mm which is at par with its competitors and for Diesel it is 165 mm which is on the lower side.

Interiors and Exteriors:

Tata Zest is the example of Tata’s new thinking towards interior design. Tata zest is well furnished with features like Dual color beautiful dashboard, with shiny silver and black finish, 5” Harman music system with touchscreen control and good sound quality, well cushioned supportive seats, 3 spoke steering wheel which is light and smooth to handle with bluetooth and audio control, Fully automatic A/C, Large glove compartment, A/C vents at foot on front seats. Rear seats are comfortable as well as with ample legroom, headroom space. MP3, AUX-IN, USB, are its other features.

Exteriors of Tata zest looks as stunning as its interiors with many first in segment introductions. Large headlamps with projector for low beam (1st in segment), Daytime running lights another 1st in segment, with dual color bumper at rear, all new bonnet, front fog lights, DRL’s, Led lights (top variant only), Body colored bumpers, door handles and ORVM’s with led blinkers are the proof of Tata’s innovative styling.

Rear fog lamps with four parking sensors, side view of Tata zest is quite good as well with large 15” alloy wheels as main attraction.

Colors:

Tata new innovation Tata Zest comes with 6 beautiful colors which are sky grey, Venetian red, Dune beige, buzz blue, pristine white and platinum silver. Among all these Dune beige and buzz Blue are likely to create buzz in the market.

Safety features:

Tata Zest is loaded with safety features like Front dual air bags, auto locks on all doors sensing according to speed, Front and rear fog lamps, 4 parking sensors at rear with its information display on screen, protection system in case of side impact, ABS+EBD, crash sensors, seat belt adjustment, immobilizer, door ajar warning etc.

Tata zest’s safety can match up with any of its competitor cars; even can out do them in some of its safety features.

Car zoom’s Verdict:

Tata’s best car till date with loads of new introductions and from mileage, maintenance and price point of view it’s a better car than Dzire, Amaze and Xcent. The only cause of concern is its reliability and after sales service.
