As we reported earlier that Honda has discontinued its sedan Accord from India due to its poor sales. Now the new and big news is that company is again bringing this car to India but this time in a hybrid form. This new Honda Accord hybrid is already running successfully in international market and now it is going to make its debut in India soon in this year.

    Price:

While the discontinued Accord had the price tag of 20.34-21.13 lakhs, the all new Accord hybrid 2014 is said to have the cost around 30 lakhs. Though, this price range is approx 9-10 lakhs more than its predecessor but being a hybrid version which would be far better and more luxuriant than the predecessor, this price tag seems justified.

Also, this figure is as per the rates of Accord Hybrid at global markets n thus tentative in India which could be changed by the launch.

    Engine & Performance:

The earlier Accord India has two petrol variants which have been discontinued now while this new hybrid model is expected to available with just one variant.

Globally, the Accord hybrid is powered by 2.0 liter 4-cylinder ultra efficient Atkinson cycle petrol engine with two electric motors. This powerful 2.0 liter petrol engine is mated with a 6-speed CVT (automatic) gearbox and producing the max power of 141bhp and 165Nm of peak torque.

Further, the newly equipped two electric motors are churning out the max output of 166bhp and 306Nm.

On combining, this hybrid engine has tendency to develop the max power of 196bhp which is quite stunning actually.

Out of these two available electric motors (made-up of lithium-ion), one is placed at the back side of engine and acts like a generator by assisting the battery in charging. While the other motor is positioned in such position so that it could provide power to the front wheels.

    Interior & Exterior:

At outside, the new and noticeable thing is the all new hybrid badge on this Accord 2014, while it is also expecting to have LED daytime running lights, blue-accented grille & light lenses, modified wheel design and a decklid spoiler etc.

Meanwhile, Honda’s Lane Watch blind-spot display, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW), leather wrapped seats, music system with 7 speakers, Bluetooth compatibility, 8 inches color i-MID display and multi angle rear view camera along with proper guidelines etc are the new expected list of features availability in this Accord hybrid 2014.

    Car Zoom’s take:

Company has taken a really fair step by launching this attractive mid-sized sedan in hybrid version. It will not only hike its sales towards upper but also increase the competition level in Indian car market. Toyota’s Camry is the only other hybrid sedan in Indian market now-a-days and this hybrid Accord by Honda will definitely give it a tough fight and also provoke the other same segment cars to do such types of experiments.

Honda is surprising its customers by giving the exciting news as well as models one-after-one. Recently, Honda has launched the facelift version of its popular Sedan City in India along with two fuel units, diesel & petrol.
