Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch armored version S600 Guard of its flagship luxury sedan S-class in India on 21st May 2015. For those who don’t compromise on safety with luxury, there is very little option. New Generation cars are loaded with various airbags, active safety system and many more advanced safety features but they not able to save the life occupants in case of serious accident or other human mayhems.

In modern Era we have been surrounded by various catastrophes other than the natural ones like terrorist attack, bomb explosion etc. A safe car is not bounded only to 10-12 airbags, impact protection system, ABS or EBD but the good old fashioned safety from bullets and explosions.

The list of important people or you can say VIPs who wants this kind of safety is increasing and for those Mercedes has already given armored cars like M Guard and E guard. Now, the German car maker has announced the launch S600 Guard, it will be the third offering in the armored vehicles in the country.

The S600 Guard was reveled in August 2014 and is on sale various markets of Asia and Europe. So what makes the car worth so much of hype? Well S600 Guard is equipped with VR9 level ballistic protection against explosives and firearms. The body of S600 Guard is made of special steel in various cavities between body structure and outer shell.

Mercedes-Benz has given extra platting to the underbody of S600 Guard to protect occupants from IED attacks and other explosives. S600 Guard provides heat resistant synthetic fibers to guard passengers from projectiles. The window glasses have been encrusted with a laminated structure and polycarbonate on the inside for splinter protection. The S600 Guard comes with special Michelin run flat tyres that allow the car to drive for up to 28 KM even with zero pressure.

The doors and windows are several millimeters thick as compared to standard S class and it comes with oxygen system which seals all exterior vents and provides clean air in case of a gas attack. S600 Guard is also equipped with airmatic suspension and new braking system including six-piston calipers at front.

Mercedes has not disclosed the weight of S600 Guard but expect this armored vehicle twice heavy as much as regular S class. As far as the design is concerned S600 Guard is similar to S class, gets executive seats at rear with massage function, chauffer package, warmouth comfort package, air filtering and LED lighting inside the cabin and at headlights and tail lamps.

Powering the S600 Guard is a 6.0L V12 engine delivering the massive output of 528bhp and 830Nm of torque comes with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission and the top speed is only limited to 210 km/hr due to its heavy weight. The only vehicle which gives competition to S600 Guard is the BMW 7 series armored vehicle which is used by our Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Mercedes would also launch S 63 AMG in the country after the launch of S600 Guard.
