Maruti Suzuki Celerio Diesel Coming Next Month?

We had earlier reported that Maruti Suzuki is working on Celerio diesel variant with a new small diesel engine. Lately, there were rumors that Maruti Suzuki has delayed the launch of Celerio Diesel by 3-6 months but now again rumors are around about its launch in April 2015. As Known Maruti Suzuki is riding high on the success of Celerio AMT, Maruti Suzuki wants to cash in this success further by launching a new diesel variant in the next month.

As the reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel variant would launch on 20th April 2015 and India’s largest car maker is also planning to introduce a new top end variant with Auto gear shift.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be powered by a new diesel engine that will be produced at company’s Gurgaon facility. The three-cylinder 793cc turbocharged oil burner can produce 35PS power and expected to deliver 30.1 KMPL mileage, making it most fuel-efficient car in the country. There is no update on Celerio diesel getting an AMT gearbox or not and torque figures have not been leaked as well.

The new diesel variant might be priced Rs. 50000 to 80000 more than the current GEN Celerio and new top end Zxi variant will be around 5.5 lakhs. To justify the price tag the new variant is expected to some premium features like new alloy wheels, dual airbags, anti-lock braking system, electrically adjustable outer mirrors, body colored door handles, front fog lamps, new music system with bluetooth connectivity.

According to the Maruti in the coming years 30-40% of small cars will be equipped with automatic gear box so it is expected that Maruti will launch new cars with AMT. In order to meet the rising demand of AMT, Maruti Suzuki along with Magneti Marelli is setting up a plant near Manesar production plant.
