A new base variant W4 has been silently launched in Mahindra & Mahindra’s most popular SUV XUV500 with features deduction and comparatively lesser price than its earlier base model W6. Company launched this new variant in the festive season on 27th September 2013 and commenced the booking from October 1st.

Price & Color:

Being the base variant, it is priced at lowest than the other models of this SUV. It comes with the price tag of 10.95 lakhs but offers just two color options i.e. Moondust Silver and Volcano Black.

Engine:

The XUV500 has now W4, W6 and W8/W8-AWD variants. Under the hood, this newly equipped model is powered by the same m-Hawk diesel engine having 4-cylinder (designed by Micro Hybrid Technology) and mated with 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. The max output produced by this engine is 140bhp and 330Nm. It offers the similar mileage of 15.1km/l (ARAI certified) like the other variants.

Space & Dimension:

No changes have been done in its dimension; it will also carry the same 4585 length, 1890 width and 1785 height. This seven seater SUV has wonderful boot space of 930 liters and fuel tank of 70 liters.

Exterior, Interior & Safety features:

As it’s a base model, though many features have been deducted from this but still it has those entire necessary features which a buyer wants. While its exterior is embellished with projection headlamps with LED parking lights, follow me home headlamps, lead me to vehicle lamps etc, its interior has integrated music system with CD/MP3, 4 door speakers, digital trip and tachometerfull wheel-caps, twin exhausts, roof rails, dual tone interiors, twin-pod instrument cluster, seat belts height adjusted, remote tailgate opening, flip key with remote central locking, rear wash and wipe, glove box with laptop holder and many more features which are still making this SUV a luxury one.

Safety wise, it is well equipped with digital immobilizer, dual airbags (driver + passengers), ABS with EBD, side impact beams, crumple zones for crash protection, tubeless tires, disc brakes on all wheels etc.

Road handling:

The existing variants have a good record and provide a decent handling on road. We expect the same in this variant too, company is promising the same though. It is said to be accelerate 0-100km/h in 12.5 seconds with the top speed of 175km/h.

Car Zoom’s take:

It can be said that it’s overall a great deal because it comes with low cost and has all the necessary and premium features even after deduction. Company has undoubtedly tried to increase its sales in this festive season and beat its competitors like Duster, EcoSport, and Terrano etc with this exciting offer.
