For those who are waiting for Jeep compass’ launch in India, we have great news for them as Compass introduction has been confirmed for 31st July 2017. The American auto giant has stepped into the Indian market with Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and Cherokee SRT version. The carmaker had already opened bookings for the SUV last month with 1000 units booked within 3 days.
The Compass will be the first Jeep model to be produced at company’s Ranjangaon plant. It will be available in total five variants: Sport, longitude, longitude (O), limited and limited (O). Expected to be priced between Rs. 16 lakh to 22 lakh (ex-showroom), it will take on Hyundai Tucson and upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan in India. It will be available in five paint schemes- Hip Hop Black, Exotica Red, Minimal Grey, Hydro Blue and Vocal White.
Under the hood of the compass will be a 1.4l turbocharged petrol and a 2.0l turbocharged diesel engine. The former can develop a max power of 162bhp power and 250Nm of torque. The oil burner makes 173bhp power and 350Nm of high torque. Transmission duties are taken care by a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The SUV will be available in India with an option of 2WD and AWD configurations.
In terms of features, Compass will be offered with HID headlamps, 7-inch U-connect touchscreen system with apple car play, Android auto, six airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, electronic stability control, roll over mitigation, hill start assist, keyless entry, push start button, dual zone climate control, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and go, grey leather upholstery, LED tail lamps and contrast black roof top and much more.
