India bound Toyota Fortuner received 5-stars in Latin NCAP crash test; launch in 2017

The next generation Toyota Fortuner is already on sale in various international markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, South Africa, and Philippines etc is now all set to make its debut in next year. The new model was revealed in August 2015 which seems to look nothing like current model on sale.

Now the latest buzz about India bound Toyota Fortuner Hilux SW4 is basically based on Hilux pickup truck has received highest safety ratings during the tests conducted by Latin NCAP (new car assessment programme). Alongside overall good performance the vehicle also performed well in child and adult occupant protection segment. The Latin NCAP certified that the tested Fortuner was loaded with dual front airbags, knee airbags, ABS as standard.

This is not for the first time the SUV gets such high ratings; in 2015 as well new Fortuner had scored 33.95 out of 37 resulting in five star rating during Australian new car assessment program and a good remark in pedestrian and whiplash protection section.

The Australian Fortuner is loaded with an array of top notch safety features such as brake assist, trailer stability control, Anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution, downhill assist control, reversing parking camera with guidelines, vehicle stability control while hill start assist control, seven airbags are offered as standard.

Speaking of the powertrains, India bound model is expected to get detuned version of 2.4l and 2.8l diesel while there will be no petrol engine. Transmission duties will be carried out by a six speed manual or a six speed automatic transmission. Expected to be priced between Rs. 25-31 lakhs (ex-showroom), it will take on Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
