The battle of the Entry segment hatchbacks is never ending. Maruti Suzuki’s new Wagon R stingray is the latest one to join the competition. Maruti Suzuki Stingray is a cosmetically face lifted model of the Wagon R hatch back. Maruti Suzuki’s aggressive marketing strategies have always kept them ahead of other competitors in the market. Hyundai has maintained a strong hold in this segment with its i10 and Eon is the latest one to join the party. Both the cars have a decent design, though Design has never been the selling points of both the car makers. Eon is comparably smaller than the Stingray

The Hyundai Eon has been launched with the petrol and CNG Variant whereas the Stingray currently has only the petrol variant. The Eon operates on 814cc three-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 55bhp @ 5500rpm and peak torque of 75Nm @ 4400rpm while Stingray has a peak power of 67.7bhp @ 6200 rpm and operates at a max torque of 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm. The Stingray has a better and powerful engine than Eon. But Eon being a smaller car, the engine power is justified and is one of best in the smaller car category such as the Alto k10 and the Maruti 800 Alto.

Most of the new Hyundai cars boast of the fluidic design. Eon is one of the best looking cars in the micro car category. It defies the notion that smaller cars don’t have to look good. The headlight and the hexagonal grille the car sports give it a dynamic look. The front fog lamps are excellently placed on the bumper giving it a unique character of its own. Stingray is a giant when compared to the Eon, which is a very small car but with an excellent design. It is one Hyundai’s best designed car so far. Stingray looks very identical to Wagon R in exterior design with few modifications. The bumpers at the front and the fog lamp housings have bold designs. The alloy-wheels give the car a stylish look.

The interiors of the Stingray are decent and in many ways reminds of the Wagon R while the interiors of Hyundai Eon looks fresh and the flowing lines on the dash board and door trims gives it a plush touch . The build quality of the dashboard is excellent but being a small car, Eon feels a little cramped and it would felt better if the leg space was more spacious and comfortable. The car has an integrated music system with Eon has decent audio quality. The inbuilt air condition system lags intensity and performs just decent. Overall the interiors fare well and have a fresh look to it. The Stingray sports silver layouts at the Steering wheel and the plastic feels decent. The door trims are elegantly designed and have got dual toned look which combines matte black and a gloss rich finish.

The basic Eon model carries a very inexpensive price tag of 2.88 L * whereas the Stingray costs around 3.93 L*.

Final Verdict:

The stingray is a bigger car and is not in the same segment as Eon. Eon has a character of its own and priced under 3L *, it is one of the best cars in the micro car segment. Stingray has a look similar to Wagon R and in the design aspect; it’s not one of the Best. Eon fares with its design and has got fresh looks.
