Ford reveals facelifted EcoSport at the 2015 Geneva Motor show

Ford has officially reveals the new Ford Eco Sport at the 2015 Geneva motor show and expect this new model to hit the Indian showrooms in 2016. Ford EcoSport received enormous response in the Indian market as well as globally. The new version will get some cosmetic and mechanical changes and most prominent would be option for customers to buy EcoSport with or without tail mounted spare wheel.

In the facelifted avatar spare wheel will be positioned in its usual place i.e. under the boot and the number plate now moves up to the tail gate from the rear bumper.

Rear side of new Eco Sport now looks like Ford fiesta or we can say like a large hatchback and rear bumper gets faux diffuser and door has been tweaked slightly so it can be partially opened easily. Apart from the rear changes new Eco Sport in new deep blue shade, new 17” alloy wheels, heated windscreen, black roof and wing mirrors.

Inside the cabin facelifted Eco Sport sports array of changes like revised instrument cluster with light dimming and chrome accents, repositioned hand brake lever, chrome treatment for windows switches, partial leather seats for Titanium variants, a 4 inch color display, charcoal black lower instrument panel etc.

According to Ford, Eco Sport’s chassis has been updated and NVH levels are also improved with tighter seals around the pedals and sound sedating in the doors and dashboard.

The new mechanicals will come with some mechanical updates as well like suspension has been tweaked with rearranged rear twist beam, revised spring and crossover also gets Cornering stability control (CSC) and power steering system to provide better stability.

The Europe spec version will also see 10mm reduction in ground clearance and for cold countries Ford is also offering winter pack that includes heated mirrors, heated windscreen and heated front seats and Ford will also introduce sat-nav and rear view camera to Eco Sport later this year. But it is unlikely that these features to make it to Indian model.

India launch can be expected in second half of this year or early next year and expect prices to go up marginally when this new model comes to India.
