Chevrolet Sail – Critic Review

Chevrolet Sail - Critics Reviews

Sedan cars have always been a trade mark that attract buyers of all age and creed. However a sedan also expected to fulfill certain standards which the Chevrolet sail fails to raise up to. Here is a look at why

RELIABILITY

The most important aspect of any product is its reliability and for cars it’s the ultimatum. Sail seems to fail pathetically in this department as many buyers complain of the following just after months of purchasing the car.

Noise issue- Many buyers have complaint of the noise issues that arise from the ac vents, boot, dashboards and hood of the car.

Paint Issue – After Pre monsoon rains the paint from door handle gets as easily pealed off as a sticker would.

The Sail steering offers very little feedback and feels decidedly twitchy while cornering.

ENGINE

The most important factor engine wise happens to be the mileage of the car. Sail is one of the cars offering the poorest mileage of 8Kmpl in the city and 14 on the high way. The Car further more lacks the capacity to pull when 5 people are seated. Sail’s 1.2-litre petrol offers only 85bhp and 113Nm of torque that too at only at 5000rpm giving you a mileage of 18.2Kmpl. The Sail feels cold in the gearbox department. Its shift quality is mediocre lacking the crispness making it rubbery. Its gate seems not one for the rushed but only for easy shifts.

EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR

The car in totality fails to give the feeling of awe to the buyers. As both the interiors and exteriors are plane Jane. The car just seems masculine from the outside, no new or innovative design makes it easy to ignore. The interiors of the car are said to be an inspiration of the cock pit look which it definitely is not. Lack of something new gives sail just another car prospective and fails to give it an edge. If you compare the cars like swift desire and amaze to sail, you will feel the clear difference sprouting. To top it up we face major ergonomic issues like the positioning of the power window switches in the middle of the centre console ahead of the gear lever. Also, the old school pull-out type door locks simply feel and look outdated. There are no steering mounted controls for the audio either and the gauge cluster looks boring too. The quality of plastics and upholstery seem quite cheap.

VERDICT

Facts such as that Chevrolet has stopped the production of sail, and piling complaints of buyers clearly high lighten the above mentioned points. Sail does not do justice to the name of sedan that is probably the reason for the slashed price of the car. All in the car fails to impress in quite a lot of areas.
